About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To stumble on the side of twelve misty mountains.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 20 something year old from western australia who loves traveling and meeting loads of different and interesting people. right now i live on the lovely island of taiwan, studying chinese and grappling with the intrigues and quirks of east asia.

PHILOSOPHY

life is a fragmentary experience with no overarching or transcendental philosophy. I see it as a collection of events, which I can hopefully digest, build upon and come to a greater state of awareness, consciousness ... oh and pretty much anything is worthwhile if it can be turned into a funny joke or story.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i've only hosted so far, and found the experience to be chilled out and rewarding. just wish i had a bit more time to show people around, i've remembered now how taipei can be a little daunting if you don't have much chinese.

Interests

history, culture, politics, music/films, travelling via bicycle, floating from one moment to the next and talking trash with all, esp the nearest and dearest. oh and the comedy of larry david or ricky gervais esp. among others.

Music, Movies, and Books

dylan, rolling stones, beatles, pogues, gil scot heron, velvet underground, van morrison, heavy jazz and world music- lucy duran& gilles peteson-radio 1 and 3 are quality.

favourite movie is probably three colours: blue by kieslowski. books- hemingway, fitzgerald, salinger, murakami, kundera, marquez-garcia, de lillo... wish i had more time to read fiction, seems like i only manage during the holidays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the majestic gorges of the kalbarri national park, western australia, a place for musing wanderers and wallabies. also not far from the second (and far more hilarious) country on the australian mainland, the hutt river principality.

Teach, Learn, Share

my practical skills are pretty limited, i guess i can cook a little (italian heritage has some application), but unfortunately i won't be able to build you a bookcase in exchange for your hospitality. i think i'm a pretty easy going conversationalist and have seen a fair bit of this world in my short time so i think i have a bit to share. i provide charming taiwanese history lessons catered to every attention span and will help you get around taiwan with a handy collection of phrases and addresses written on the back of 711 receipts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
