Here lives Frank 53 from Germany living in the far north of Norway for more than 20 years already.The kids are all grown up and mostly moved out studiing all over the world but frequently coming home for visits. The oldest daughter Hannah just moved back to live on the farm With her husband Eddy and their New born child Oliver. Harstad city is about one hour away from our house, as we live on Grytøy island. This is a wonderful place connected to Harstad by a ferry. Our home is a small organic farm in Fenes where we have 11 wild- viking sheep, chickens, two cats and about 9 turkeys. We grow potatoes, carrots and many other vegetables here during our short midnight-sun summer. Frank Works as a family doctor on the island community of Grytøy/Bjarkøy, as well as in the city. During our spare time we love the outdoors and being active, and we often hike in the mountains, or go fishing or kayaking on the sea, and we also have a great passion for road biking and skiing. The nature surrounding us is perfect for all sorts of sports and activities, and especially the summer months are for the time to spend as much time as possible outside.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

Our daughter Hannah begun couchsurfing all over Europe, North and South-America after she finished high-school, and had several great experiences. We also hosted many couchsurfers through her account and found it to be a great opportunity to get in touch with very interesting people from all corners of the world, and being able to offer them a nice place to stay. We would love to host people and show them some of the amazing Norwegian coastline with all its opportunities.

Interesses

We love the outdoors, and especially during the warmer summer months we go camping and hiking a lot. We also enjoy fishing and kayaking, and the fjords and sounds surrounding us are the perfect spot. During the winter we ski in the local ski hill in Harstad. Travelling to different countries and getting to know new cultures and costums is always interesting, and we have family in Germany, but have also gone to Peru which was amazing, and we definitely love adventures! but summers in Norway are generally so beautiful that we prefer spending the summers at home, gardening and maintaining the land and the forests around us.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

Frank loves rock from the 60s and 70s, especially Jimi Hendrix, Cream etc.
Prefer books about the arctic life, or about mountaineering and expeditions, or about traditions and cultures, but we read a lot and many different kinds of books!
