About Me

** I'M ON TOUR! Traveling the US (and Canada) currently as a one-man musical act. Exciting. **

I'm a lone wanderer. A nomadic eccentric. A man in search of himself.

All very dramatic, I know. But seriously - I'm just a guy who's living out of his van whilst seeing the world. I tend to attract odd looks in public whenever I find cause to mention this, but in a community of travelers and hospitable people I imagine it doesn't seem that strange.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I need a place to park! And I have developed an aversion to social interaction - but I know I should meet people so as to not devolve into a hermit-lifestyle. Couchsurfing seems like a great way to find both.

Interests

Longboarding, reading, board games, finding good beer and well crafted cocktails, rock climbing (mostly bouldering), surfing (badly), lifting at the gym, yoga, music (both listening and creating), video games, art. I'm not sure but I think it may have posted this list twice?

Movies:
Open minded, and I've seen my fair share. I'm good at quoting the films I like. From Casablanca to Blade Runner, Oceans 11 to Silver Linings Playbook. If there's something good to be found in a movie, I'll try and find it.

Books:
I come from hardcore Sci-Fi & Fantasy roots, and can debate the Silmarillion with the best of them. But in the last few years my scope has broadened to include a more eclectic range. Recent reads include: "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson, "The Wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss, "Killing Pretty" by Richard Kadrey, and "Paddle Your Own Canoe" by Nick Offerman. Currently re-reading The Alchemist.

Shows:
-Firefly
-30 Rock
-The Wire
-Band of Brothers
-Daredevil
-FLCL
-True Detective
-Arrested Development
-Cowboy Bebop
My taste is broad, but right now I don't watch much of anything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driven my van from the Easternmost point of the contiguous United States to the Westernmost point of the contiguous U.S. - I will probably do it again in reverse.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can you teach me Gaelic? I'll try very hard to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have been known to chop away on my guitar in a genuine and heartfelt manner and have recently begun to feel comfortable playing in front of people. Even if I maybe shouldn't. In small groups I enjoy conversation and sharing stories and/or jokes. Do you have something you want me to paint? I could do that.
