About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be calm, content and absorb new experiences with an open heart.

ABOUT ME

I am a Californian designer, artist and documentarian. I search: for social justice, to meet open-minded people, to make art, for good typography, to integrate the world into my illustrations, to keep dreaming, for a strong conversation, and to learn.

PHILOSOPHY

I am enamored by the colorful epiphanies that result from a relationship with another human being.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to meet another Couchsurfer I didn't want to get coffee with.

Interests

I love learning, laughing, traveling, helping, serving, volunteering, changing social standards, meeting new people, reading, writing, listening, making music, making art, illustrating, photographing, asking questions, yoga, praying, surfing, and coffee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My two friends and I were the first people outside the tribal family of the Arhuacos to visit a certain region of the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Colombia. We stayed with the son of a mamu (chief) of the Arhuaco tribe and worked for him and his family for a week. It was a changing and cleansing experience.

I taught a 4th and 5th grade class in an impoverished neighborhood in NIcaragua.

I made a website for an indigenous town in the highlands of Guatemala promoting their artesanía and traditional culture.

I fought for the rights of indigenous people in a strike in front of the capital building in Guatemala City.

I made a drawing series studying the lines and contours of 26 elderly people's faces from the Kakchiquel tribe of Guatemala. Their average age was 84 years old.

I've lived on the Caribbean Coast of Colombian for a month on $2.50 a day.

I climbed the rocky formations of Joshua Tree National Park. Naked.

I sailed around the North Island of New Zealand.

I worked with the homeless population of San Diego, California, for 4 years and learned more from them than I ever could in a university.

I studied art in Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Vienna and London.
