About Me
CURRENT MISSION
meet people!
ABOUT ME
I am a freelance journalist for several magazines and newspapers and radio. I report on politics, but mostly on which (unexpected) effects they have on people. I also write travel reports or features while travelling. I just published a book about the impact the Chernobyl disaster still has, mostly in Belarus but also Ukraine. It's not a sunny, funny topic, but I enjoyed working on it massively. Now I am exploring what could be my next big project...
In the meanwhile I like to be outside, read books, meet new people, enjoy theatre or play board games.
PHILOSOPHY
When we asked a French Erasmus Student who was staying at a friends house whether he had a motto, he replied: 'i don't even have a drivers license.' That's my motto now.

While travelling (for work or holiday) I often meet up with other couchsurfers, both travelling and local. It will either be good company or a good story afterwards ;-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I like to meet couch surfers around the world and I have had couchsurfers visiting me. I sometimes surf a strangers couch too.
Interests
Travelling, Politics, literature, theatre, stupid chickflick movies like Legally Blonde, Tasteless music, Eastern Europe/ Post communist transition... and whatever you bring up.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite books are: everything is illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, Max Havelaar by multatuli and Pipi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga is a nice runner up.
My favorite movie is Kustunica's Underground. But I haven't seen it half as many times as I saw Reese Witherspoon in both her Legally Blondes. No better way to waste time than that
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was born. I don't remember much of it, but I've been told it was quite an event. Other great things where being offered to stay at someones home just three minutes after arriving in Tirana, enjoying the monsoon with local people in Banywanyi in Java, being breathless and struck by beauty in Ohrid Macedonia and ... Ok, so, so much more!
Teach, Learn, Share
Yes, please! I know how to write, I know how to teach and I know my history (I am a historian after all...) Can you teach me Russian, Belarusan or Ukrainian, please?
