ABOUT ME

tommi:

I was born in australia, where i grew up and went to school. After graduating university, i worked in perth as an interior designer. I then decided to quit my job and try something completely different and moved to Japan to try a new life adventure. It was a risk, but everything turned out well. I lived in japan for 5 years working as a translator for a government department and then again i decided maybe i would want to try another risky life adventure one more time before i got too old. So, i quit my job in japan and moved to Poland (i took my girlfriend with me, and then married her) about 5 years ago (how time flies). I hope this adventure turns out to be as successful as the last one did... i'll keep my fingers crossed, and stay positive, and things should turn out good. Wish us luck!!

misa:
i was born in Japan and grew up on a small island near the city of Kobe (famous for Japanese beef). I lived in the UK for a while, and then moved back to Japan. I met tommi while he was living and working in japan, and we have been together ever since. One day he told me that he will move to Poland to live, so i decided to move with him, and try an adventure of my own. We have now lived in Poland for 5 years, and we try to explore Europe and meet people whenever we can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We both think couch-surfing is one of the best inventions humanity has come up with. The opportunity to connect in real-life with so many people (i'm not talking about like buttons, pokes and the rest of that social-media jive). Ever since we started this, we have been traveling in hotels less and less, and recently we almost never stay in a hotel (unless its an emergency), because its so much more boring than what couch-surfing has to offer. Recently tommi has even been using couch-surfing when he travels for business (which is a bit more difficult, because business trips tend to be sudden and not planned), and has been surprised at how rewarding the experiences still are, even with such a short amount of contact time. It just goes to show what an amazing community couch-surfing is.

Anyway, we wont go on, because then the profile becomes bothersome to read...

But put simply, we are on couch-surfing to not only travel the world, but to get to know the world too.

Interests

tommi: music, snow, science, video games, animals, night-clubs, roller-coasters (i try and take my frightened wife on these), and until i die.... LEGO!!!!!

misa: art(make art as well), design(design jewellery), music, animals, museums, nature, ludovico einaudi, daniel hope, alex baranowski, flowers, good company and great friends.
