Overview
About Me
Lucy often has her head in the clouds, has absolutely no sense of direction and is always getting lost. She dislikes most forms of technology especially television and prefers to spend her time cooking in the kitchen. She loves sleeping and is very good at it, often falling asleep at 10pm no matter where she is and not waking until 9 in the morning. Some might say this ability to sleep is superhuman. She's generally a very happy person, although prone to grumpiness when she's just woken up or when she hasn't been fed recently.
Gareth on the other hand has an extremely good sense of direction, loves gadgets and doesn't need much sleep. Gareth is very tall, very calm, very logical and also generally very cheerful. He has a tendency to mumble, especially if he hasn't drunk tea in a while. He loves eating what Lucy cooks (and is a dab hand himself in the kitchen) and is also very good at doing the washing up.
Together we are the FRANKELBYS.
UPDATE!!!! The Frankelbys have multiplied! Baby Frankelby was born in May 2015.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We host in London and love it - we always have weird and wonderful cheeses in our fridge from all over the world.
In India, Bangkok, Poland and Barcelona we've stayed with some really awesome people through couchsurfing who made each trip unforgettable.
Interests
Food!!! Cooking it, eating it, trying out new recipes, eating at least 8 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, coming up with innovative recipes to use up everything in the fridge because we hate throwing food away...
Lucy is passionate about feminism and gay rights (and equality in general!) and especially interested in how that relates to religion. She also LOVES musicals. If your trip to London includes going to the theatre to see Les Miserables, Wicked, Matilda or Book of Mormon she will get VERY excited. Expect her to sing the whole soundtrack to you. Multiple times.
Gareth loves mountains, mountain biking and winter climbing, drinking tea, the environment, sustainable buildings and biogas toilets.
We both enjoy running, and especially the phenomenon of parkrun.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite authors include John Wyndham, George Orwell, and the one and only Roald Dahl. Big fans of depressing dystopian books such as 1984, Brave New World, the Road, the Hunger Games etc.
We don't watch a lot of films but favourites include Amelie, Forrest Gump, the King's Speech, Frozen (OMG Idina Menzel!), Little Miss Sunshine. Lucy absolutely refuses to watch anything AT ALL violent but Gareth loves Braveheart and Gladiator.
Music... Gareth plays classical guitar (though is quite shy about it!) and you'll often hear Lucy singing away to herself, usually a cheesy song from a musical or Disney film. We generally listen to indie rock: Kings of Leon, Florence and the Machine... that kind of thing. Gareth also loves Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel... a love Lucy does not share!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's better to talk about this one in person...
Teach, Learn, Share
Lucy's mum is from Belgium, so she speaks passable French. Gareth is perpetually learning. If you speak French, we both love to practise ours.
We're also pretty psyched about learning Twi, the most widely spoken indigenous language in Ghana. Never had a Twi-speaking couch surfer yet, but we're always on the lookout!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can teach you all about biogas - turning waste (plant, animal, and/or human waste) into gas for cooking and fertiliser...
