About Me

Born in China and moved to Hong Kong at the age of 4, Franki (now 66)has learnt to love and respect nature from the beginning. Influenced by his parents’ love of travel, he developed his wonder lust at a very young age. His travel has covered 5 continents with special focuses in Asia where he lived and worked.

Franki has been an avid adventure motorcycle traveler for 47 years. In 2011 Franki went to USA and bought a 2007 Kawasaki KLR650 outfitted it with long distance travel accessories such as sump guard, tank guard, aluminum panniers etc. and went through a quick learning curve Tech-Daze organized by the Northern California KLR650 forum. He learnt many things about his motorcycle and made many friends while doing that. Then Franki travelled coast to coast across North America and North-eastern part of Canada by himself for 25,000km in about 3 months as a shake down ride before his return in Oct. 2012 to pick up his trusted KLR650 in San Francisco to continue his quest of his last continent down south. The route he took was California – Baja California – Mainland Mexico – Guatemala – El Salvador – Honduras – Nicaragua – Costar Rica – Panama – Colombia – Ecuador – Peru – Chile – Argentina (all the way down to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego) and back up to Rio de Janeiro , Brazil where he picked up a flight back to San Francisco, California to make connection back to Hong Kong by end of March, 2013. Total overland travel is about 35,000km. Total time used 6 months. 13 countries visited with over 100GB of photos and videos taken. Franki financed the whole trip personally without any commercial sponsorship but did received many help, assistance or advise from fellow motorcyclists/adventurers. A journal has been kept during the trip for personal memory. In 2015,

Franki started a tour of The Mekong and The Great Wall where he travelled by all means of transport from the astray of the Mekong River (Vietnam) upstream to the source (The Lancangjiang) in Qinghai (China) through 5 countries and from 0m altitude to over 5,000m. Upon completion of this sector, he travelled to Jiayuguan, the Western end of The Great Wall and trace the wall all the way to the Eastern seaboard in Shanhaiguan. A total distance of 25,000km in 3 months.
