About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Planning a RTW trip for next Sept!!

ABOUT ME

I love traveling and make it a mission to leave the US at least once every year. I read travel blogs, travel essays and am always planning the next trip...is that bad!? I enjoy meeting people, having drinks, talking about music and travel.

I love going to bars but am perfectly content to open a good beer on the porch, chat and watch the world go by. I like going to shows (indie rock, punk) or fun DJ dance nights (funk/soul, brit pop) and can talk forever about music.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that there is so much to see and hardly enough time for it. Through traveling, couchsurfing etc I've found that there are great people no matter where you are and if you're open minded anything can happen. I think it's good to be curious about other places and people and that it can only help you as a person by having a broad range of experiences. Hell, no one has ever looked back from their death bed and wished they had worked more and seen less!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am willing to offer up my couch and to be a guide around Richmond if I'm available when someone is coming through.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted one Couchsurfer so far, but have surfed with people in Belize and Peru and have had the best times getting to hang with local people in their city.

Interests

I like playing drums, craft beer, lindy hop, riding my scooter, playing pool, skateboarding (not as much these days),pub quiz night, stand up comedy, TRAVELING, helping with the garden, cooking, porch sitting/people watching

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Milan Kundera, Nick Hornby, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Douglas Coupland, Arthur Nersesian, Chuck Klosterman

Travel Books: J Maarten Troost, Richard Grant, Tony Hawks...too many to list, but ask me what my favorites are!

Movies: Amelie, Life Is Beatiful, City of Lost Children, Evil Dead, Everything Is Illuminated

Music: I have a broad music taste, though it mostly skews from anything considered pop or is played incessantly on the radio. I love indie rock, punk, '40 style big band jazz, old soul/funk music but I also can get down with some reggae, old country, salsa, baile funk, mariachi..depends on the mood!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking to Macchu Pichu in the rain for four days, but totally worth it! Going whitewater rafting in Panama was quite a rush. Standing at the top of Cerro Negro in Nicaragua and seeing a line of 7 volcanos, some which were active...including the one that we were on!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
