About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and learn about the world. Meet interesting people.

ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Frank. I would best describe my current life situation as nomad or migrant worker who enjoys bicycling, hiking, skiing or other outdoor adventuring. My home has been the U.S. state of Maine off and on for the past 20 or so years. I have been a traveling healthcare worker for the past 5 years. I’ve been to some interesting places in the US for work. I would like to settle down and buy a house at some point so I can start hosting couch surfers again.

PHILOSOPHY

I am fairly easygoing and try to stay open to different view points. I believe everyone should be treated fairly and respectfully. I try to live a relatively minimalist lifestyle. I don't need a lot of personal possessions or a big fancy house to be happy. If something breaks, I try to fix or repair it instead of buying something new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’ve hosted a few travelers at my place in Maine. I have surfed a few times in the US and Canada. The app has also been a great way to meet other travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience has been great. It’s nice to meet local friends who can give a more intimate experience then the typical tourist areas.

Interests

My activities include bike riding, hiking, running. hanging out with friends getting to know people better. I enjoying meeting travelers learning about where they're from and hearing their stories.

I recently started getting into bike packing. It's similar to bicycle touring in that you carry all the gear you need for a long multi-day trip except you pack extra light. Old style bike touring is usually only on paved roads. But bike packing is usually includes dirt roads or trails. So far I've only done one trip which was four day trek around the green mountains of Vermont. I camped out where ever I ended up at the end of the day. It was an awesome adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

For movies I enjoy watching foreign, independent films, documentaries, comedies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Machu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands were some amazing places.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my travel experiences and stories or give a tour of the place I live.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do a lot of cycling and I'm pretty handy with doing some of my own repairs. If you have a bike that doesn't shift quite right or needs some adjustment I may be able to help.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, England, Germany, Guatemala, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In
