About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Reality

ABOUT ME

Serious but random, permanently curious, fussy, a bit awkward, critical, funny, polite and quirky at the same time.

I can be a total Settembrini; other times, I make some sense.

I don't lie, I tell stories.

PHILOSOPHY

Fight for the things you want. Willpower, persistence. Demanding with your own goals. Courage. Make dramatic moments worth it, not tear-jerking.

"I always look up. That's why I'm a very remarkable fellow!" -Chico.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly surfing and hanging out with other couchsurfers. As a host I usually offer tiny and isolated accommodations, so most of the times I'm not a popular choice.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met Michael Reekie (CouchSurfer from Dumont, NJ) at the end of summer 2008, near New York. We saw each other for a few hours. In March 2009, Roberto Marmolejo, from Mexico City, was my great host for a few days. In January 2011, Lien Monteny hosted me while sharing a fun weekend in Zurich. In March, Karolina Šípalová offered me a comfy bed during my visit in Prague. In June 2012, Marc Jaffeux hosted me during a hectic weekend in Paris. In March 2014, Joanna Reese and her family welcomed me in their house in Indianapolis for several days. Late June 2014, I stayed with Audel and Natacha Marseille in vibrant Port-au-Prince. These days, after a busy year and a half, hope to reconnect to the CouchSurfing community around the world!

I also met other CouchSurfers all around the world and hanged out with them for some days.

I have hosted so many friends, but only Eilam Wolman through CouchSurfing, in July 2013.

Interests

The challenge of writing and literature. Extremes. Broken rules with(out) a reason. Conversations that build language. Long walks. Beer. Drawing. Sloths and platypuses.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like some poppy/rock/crap (from Blur to Miguel, from Devendra Banhart to little bands that play in matchboxes), some classical (e.g. Dvorak, Haendel, Mendelssohn, Paganini, Rossini, Tchaikovsky; all mixed, all moods, but mostly Romantic), some soca and some electronic; Jazz neophyte, MPB enjoy-er.

Movies: Most of them directed, produced or played by Ullman & Bergman, Luis Buñuel, Fellini & Masina, Aki Kaurismaki, Wong Kar-wai, Kim Ki-duk, Takeshi Kitano, Peter Lorre, Toshiro Mifune, François Truffaut, Orson Welles... I also like good documentaries and some independent productions

Books: I'm up to good essays and studies on things I didn't even hear about. I enjoy poetry, long novels and short stories, too. A sample of authors: Borges, Raymond Carver, Abe Kobo, Tolstoi, César Vallejo... Well, that was a fruity international selection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Great and strange trips, the unexpected coming true or the wondrous effects of some soporific experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm into language and literature, and any theory that isn't too sweaty to build up.

Interest is contagious: be interested in something and I'll want to learn about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sometimes blabber, sometimes laughter.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Haiti, Japan, Mexico, Nepal, Portugal, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay
