Hi! I am Franzi from Wendlingen am Neckar in Germany, which is a smallish town near Stuttgart. In July 2016 I graduated from Gymnasium (basically High School) and passed the Abitur. Before I start going to university this fall I am now on a journey around the world. I love being challenged and pushing my limits, as well as learning a lot about new cultures and different lifestyles. Along my journey I am participating in different volunteering projects to give back in exchange for all the experience I gain through travelling.

Three years ago I spent an exchange year in Connecticut in the United States. Once back in Germany I easily passed the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2 level). I am basically in love with languages. I do not only love to learn how to speak a language, but also to learn something about how it evolved and what its hisorical background is. I try to keep up my studies in Italian, which I have started at high school in the US for one year. Unfortunately my German school didn't offer Italian, but I was taking Spanish, English and Latin classes.
One of my biggest passions is travelling and getting to know new cultures. I am very interested in trying new things such as food and seeing all different kinds of places. Since I was 13 I have often been travelling on my own, visiting friends all over the world - for example in Brazil.
Another passion of mine is photography. I love to explore the world with my camera and to capture landscapes, exciting places and beautiful moments. In my free time I enjoy creative working, art, cooking, reading and spending time with my boyfriend.
When I travel, I like to experience the country as it is and not the tourist version of it. Therefore I prefer staying with locals, who can give me a real insight of their culture and daily life.

For my future I hope to see many many beautiful new places and to meet interesting people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting interesting people in interesting places. Hotels are so intimate and isolated - you never actually get to meet locals, that can share amazing knowledge with you. Therefore I decided to register on couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Starting a trip around the world on my own! My journey started in February 2017 and will end in July. So far I have visited India, Nepal and Indonesia. Los Angeles, Mexico, Colombia, New York and Iceland are yet to come! I couldn't be more excited.
