About Me

I grew up on a hobby ranch in a rather small village and was always surrounded by animals. Being active all my life, I tried all kinds of different sports. But growing up right next to a forest, I usually ended up going there for a hike or run to free my mind. It was just last year when I graduated from high school ( finally) and I was always keen to travel the world, so wanderlust got its hands on me and I decided to explore different cultures and meet new people. I applied for a working holiday visa in Canada and started my first big adventure. Working as a nanny gave me the first proper glimpse of being independent and responsible for my own actions. I just started my road trip in North America and I'm excited to meet other surfer/ traveler on my trip.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´ve started travelling this year and someone recommended this platform to connect with people (locals as well as other traveler).
But most of all I want to get to know people, hear their stories, learn something about their cities, learn more about traveling and share a great time together.

Interests

As I already mentioned I'm very interested in all kinds of activities. I love to be outdoors, hiking or running in the woods. I also have a huge interest in music. It connects people in a very unique way. Drawing and painting has always been a part of my life and I hope to turn this hobby in my profession. I recently picked up photography and it really fascinates me. I shouldn´t forget to mention food/ cooking as well as creating cocktail. I hope to learn and try some amazing recipes on my travel. One of my favourite things to do on a slow day is to sit in a cafe shop and drink good coffee or a nice cup of tea while I read, sketch or observe people.
Probably my biggest interest though is to learn. Learn all kinds of things. Learn a new sport, a new way of living, about other cultures, something about a person you just met, a new recipe, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Music is a VERY important part in my life. It keeps me going and there is always a song that "speaks" to you in an "emotional phase".
But normally I listen to indie/ alternative/ rock music. Sometimes I like to listen to jazz. And classical compositions are perfect for drawing.
Artists I like:
The Black Keys; Sufjan Stevens; Band of Horses; Bob Dylan; Half Moon Run; Foals; Matt Corby; Alt J; Bear Hands; Ben Howard; Bon Iver; Cage the Elephant; Death Cab for Cutie; Dikta; Fink; Florence + the Mashine; Foo Fighter; Foster the People; The Fray; Audioslave; Volbeat; The Rolling Stones; Bad Religion; Gregory Ala Isakov; The Head and the Heart; Heartless Bastards; Hungry Kid of Hungary; Imagion Dragons; Roo Panes; James Bay; James Blake; James Blunt; James Vincent McMorrow; Jamie N Commons; Johnny Cash; Jóse Gonzalez; Keaton Henson; Kill it Kid; Kings of Leon; The Kooks; Life in Film; The Lumineers; The Maine; Of Monsters and Men; The Paperkites; Paramore; The Strokes; Parov Stelar; Pearl Jam; Peter Fox; ACDC; Seed; Pheonix; Radical Face; Rival Sons; RY X; The Shins; Sigur Rós; Sleeping at Last; Ludovico Einaudi; Chilly Gonzales; Jamie Cullum; Count Basie; Nina Simone; Ella Fritzgerald; Billie Holiday; Louis Armstrong; ...

Movies:
I don´t watch TV regularly but I do love movies!
The movies that inspired me the most are: The secret life of Walter Mitty ; Into the wild ; and one of my all time favorite is The king´s speech ( the cinematografie is amazing).
Oh and I love Disney movies ;P

Books:
I love to read! Whether it´s an informative book, a crime or fantasy novel and then you can forget the outside world for a while. It´s perfect to by-pass the time on a bus or plane.

-Current read: Quiet by Susan Cain-

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I joined the "polar bear swim" in Vancouver this year (2016) and I can tell you it was freezing!

I drove down the Pacific Coast of the United States and it was probably one of the most beautiful things I´ve done so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I have learned so far is, that the process of learning NEVER ends.

"I am still learning" - Michelangelo

You mostly learn out of your own mistakes but I also think that shared stories can teach you important insights.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my current travel- experience and life story. I´m a good chef so I could share a nice meal with nice conversations and good laughs. That might not sound like much. But I´m welcome to share what ever I can offer. Oh and I also think that helping with washing up and cleaning after yourself should be done without asking.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
