ABOUT ME

I am a graduate of ecology and evolution (biology) at University of California Santa Cruz. I hope to continue in graduate school with a degree in community ecology focusing on whale shark populations in Mexico =).

I have studied abroad at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England and at AUP in Paris. I took a year off from studying biology to study art and the French language (I have too many interests, so sometimes I need to mix up my studies), as well as explore new countries and customs. I would love to travel to Chile, Argentina, Thailand, Egypt, Morocco, and so many other places-there's just too many to list.

I returned to Paris last year to teach English for 7 months while I wrote grants for graduate school. I am now back in CA and am a scientific aide for the CA department of fish and game-helping out with some data crunching on the computer and some field work in summer.

oh yea, and I have a habit of taking a ridiculous amount of pictures =)

Interests

so many: animals, outdoors, hiking, food (chocolate and all the good stuff), meeting new people, accents, getting dressed up, DANCING (all types: tap, salsa, belly, ballet, swing, and just general movement), horseback riding, fencing, yoga, photography, writing, movies, laughter.........this could really go on forever

Music, Movies, and Books

I find myself living moments with my music-this way my life has a soundtrack =). I love all music and of all genres but here's a few: old rock, classic, opera, big band, 30s jazz, reggae, alt and all around mellow, house and dance music-I love to dance- salsa, samba, tango and anything of the Latin persuasion...continuing with that dancing theme =)

Movies: way too many to list: dirty dancing, chocolate, LOTR, the goonies, funny face, sabrina, the gods must be crazy 1 and 2, Life is Beautiful, equilibrium, the black swan........it's a good mix of all genres

Books:
Seven Waters trilogy, Pride and Prejudice, HARRY POTTER!!, To Kill A Mockingbird, 1984, Lord of the Rings, Redwall, Little Women, much ado about nothing, the grapes of wrath, native son, Poison wood bible, cold mountain, of mice and men & many more...

I can teach salsa and some other dances...hm and other stuff I guess...can't think of much right now, but I figure if we meet we'll learn from each other...that's what new experiences are for right?
