CURRENT MISSION

Explore as many countries as we can together with my girlfriend, Tayla. We want to be immersed in different cultures with locals, see how people live and learn from their experiences.

ABOUT US

• Myself and my partner are a couple travelling from Mount Gambier, South Australia to Europe for 6 months to explore the rich cultures and to have unique experiences.

• I am a high school teacher in a country town called Mount Gambier. I help students design projects and build them out of metal using a variety of techniques like welding and basic machining.

• We are always keen to meet new and interesting people from all over the world and make new friends. We find the different way in which people live their life extremely interesting and it helps to give us prospective in our own lives.

• We enjoy meeting new people, learning about peoples cultures and being able to see countries and cities from a locals perspective, and to not just be another tourist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I moved to Mount Gambier for a teaching job I had a 2 bedroom house to myself with a couch, spare bed and plenty of room. I wanted to be able to host couchsurfers as a way of helping out travellers because I have experienced the difference when travelling and being with a local. I am in a quiet beautiful town and had the honour of hosting 3 sets of couchsurfers. I cooked dinner, took one of them out to the pub with some friends and was able to have some great conversations throughout. I really enjoyed hosting for the time I did but have been unable to for the past few years since working two jobs and focusing on saving for our upcoming holiday.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had no couchsurfing experience yet but I am looking forward to hopefully being able to participate on this trip to Europe.

I travelled around Europe solo in 2014 and visited 10 countries. Tomorrowland, San Fermin; Contiki were incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

Leaning about different cultures and how other people live is very interesting. I will be able to share with you what it is like to be an Australian.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are a super friendly couple and love to have a chat. So we are happy to chill out, maybe have a coffee or beer while chatting & learning about each others experiences. We also like to have a joke around and laugh, never taking life to seriously :)
