One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summer 2017 was an odd summer for me, it's started like one of the worst summer of my life, I've been getting with diffculties over a rough break up of a two years relationship, I've juste made my first movie wich was really not as great as expected and quit my job as a Camp Counselor because of how little I was getting paid.

I came back to Rennes, where I live with a depression that was growing more and more serious but my friends were here for me and the summer quickly began one of the happiest and surpising Summer I ever have. I will not began to narrate all the crazy things that happened during thoses two months but I wanted you to understand in wich mental state I was when August touch to it's end. We just had one of the most intense self discovery experience of our lives and didn't want to end it like any summer so I propose to my four companions of adventure to get away for a while to the south of France but things happened and the trip was compromise. It was three days before my birthday and a week before we all go back to school. We were so sad of not doing anything special to end our adventures...So, one afternoon, we were pretty drunk and I look at Doudou one of my best friend and I said to him : "Man, let's take my car, grabb Bab and Thomas and drive to Amsterdam", two beers later and three phone calls we were shopping to get food, gas and some documentation about amsterdam, and 10 Hours later, at Midnight, we were driving to Amsterdam. A 14 hours drive. Wich was suppose to be only 8 hours long but I was the only driver and we get lost two times (one in Belgium). It was insane. All the way we keep asking ourselves " What are we doing ? We don't know where we gonna sleep once we get there, we don't have enough money to do this trip !" That was true, since we didn't think about checking anywhere to sleep and we where linving on the last few euros we still have left ( wich was really not a lot for any of us) but we didn't care : it was crazy, it was spontaneous, just like everything we did during all summer. We spent only three days in this beautiful town, it was incredible. And I'm so glad to be able to say that I celebrate my 21st Birthday, on the road Back with three of my best friends singing "Heroin" in my old car. This car was kind of a token of our summer, it has bring us everywhere for over a year, and this year, two days ago as i type this lines exactly when we had to bring it to the breakage, everyone was feeling so down and sad, everyone who participate to this trip seem to say goodbye to an old friend, an old companion of adventure.

It began like one of the worst summer I can ever imagine and ended with one of the most memorable and emotional trip I've done. I love to travel and I want to go a lot more around the world but It was on this trip to Amsterdam that this dream and this inner feeling of needing to see the world came back at me with so much strengh. And with people who make me better and happy, if I can. Because living this experience was amazing, see all those things and met all this people that I met in Amsterdam was incredible, but it was also because I was surounded by those that I since learn to call my Brothers.

I will never forget this summer of 2017 and this improvised trip to Amsterdam aboard my Car ( "Chouquette") and how it change me and help me began to try to be happy again.
