About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly, down-to-earth chap, a native Dane, originally from a tiny village near Denmark's second largest city, Aarhus.
I study comparative literature at The University of Copenhagen, but in this first half of 2017 I will be doing an exchange program at La Universidad de Chile in Santiago.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only tried couchsurfing once, as a host in Barcelona, where I lived half a year some time ago.

Interests

Yeah well, I spend a lot of time with literature and books, both through my studies and through my side line job at an independent publishing house ("house" sounds very established, it's probably more like a publishing hut... or tent..), where we create the most beautiful books!

More or less since I came home from half a year living in Barcelona and started studying, I have been wanting to leave Copenhagen once more (not because I don't like it there though), to travel somewhere, more than a short vacation, and now I'm finally doing it, here in Chile - that's the kind of travel I prefer, I think - taking my time getting to know the place I visit, to have a chance of actually go in debt with the country, the city, it's people and their ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's impossible for me to point out a favorite book, movie, band, etc, but right now I'm really into the contemporary chilean poetry and prose, trying to read it in spanish and do some translations (but it's difficult!) - Leonardo Sanhueza, Nona Fernández and Adriana Valdés for the moment. AND as one of the greatest, Roberto Bolaño of course, the rambling poet who gave me the idea to come to Chile in the first place!

Danish jazz, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Leonard Cohen will probably also be something I hear ... But that's only a small part of what listen to ... I like to think i'm an all-round listener. Right now I love the new albums of Solange and Sampha, and the band Khruangbin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Chile without even mastering castellano! Chileno is impossible!
