I am very sensitive to my surroundings--I vibrate with the energy of cities and quiet in the calm of the country. I love language and languages, moving among them, learning new ones, moving among the ones I know.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't participated in couchsurfing through this website, but I've been hosting travelers and traveling with the help of strangers and friends of friends for many years.

Interests

Biking, nonfiction, food systems, the accidental poetry of government manuals, the human body, going for walks, going for hikes, eating food right off the plant, movies, saunas, sandwiches, fruit with a lot of little seeds, fruit with one big seed, ice cream, sorbet, popsicles, frozen bananas dipped in chocolate, frozen sweets in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made my mom, at the age of 59, her first ever breakfast in bed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love of baking -- cookies, cakes, ice creams, you name it! I have a few favorite/classic recipes (chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, American-style pancakes, cardamom dark chocolate ice cream, to name a few), but I also love to improvise and discover new recipes using locally available and seasonal ingredients. And perhaps most of all, I love planning and sharing meals.

I would also be delighted to share my limited but enthusiastic knowledge of origami! I love origami because it makes every scrap of paper a possible site of creativity--I tend to leave a trail of paper cranes in my wake.

Beyond that, I can share my love of stories. I can't wait to hear yours.
