About Me

We are Bihter and Freddie from Turkiye and USA who have found each other by lovely chance through Couch Surfing. We shared an amazing but short time together at Bihter’s home in Western Turkiye, and have since made plans to travel together to Georgia.

We are looking to travel sustainably via couch surfing, volunteering, and hitch hiking. And the best part is that we believe that those options lead to the deepest, most profound, and most fun connections and experiences!

More about me (Freddie):

I'm 25 and have been traveling in Europe and Australia for the past 5 years.
I studied my bachelor in math and philosophy and now usually work remotely as a data scientist for sustainable start ups
I keep up with passion for philosophy by reading books but also learning from life and the people I meet
I’m so passionate about people different from me and the conversations we have that I started a podcast about the people I meet and the concept of identity in their lives! You can message me if you wanna hear more, since I don’t want this to come off as an advertisement:)

CS Philosophy
Once basic needs are met (a place to sleep, healthy food, sense of security..) Traveling and (since for me, traveling has become synonymous with life) life is all about the people in it. As I remember my life, I categorise time periods by the people I spent the most time with then.
When I spent time with a new person, I spent time with a new version of myself. Briefer encounters with people might not be so extreme, but I have certainly, as I believe many couch surfers have, met some people for just 1 or 2 days and now feel closer to them than people I knew for years.
When spending time with new people, sometimes I doubt whether I should be putting this time and energy is strengthening my existing relationships instead, but I think that we should all find our own balance between making new connections throughout our lives and working on the relationships which are most important to us. By speaking with and spending time with new people we grow ourselves and can bring what we learn and the energy we gain to every aspect of our lives including existing relationships.
I can’t wait to meet you and share time and passions and experiences

More about me (Bither):

Hello all, this is Bihter writing for you to provide a premise.

I'm 26, from Turkey.

Experimentalist in the kitchen. Okay, not always in the kitchen but in my whole life. :P

I like to draw, read, write, critique, and cook.
I juggle poi and dapostar. I practice doing them with fire!
I love to merge skills with people, so every connection is unique if we are "in".
My mother language is Turkish. I use English and sometimes Français. Voilà.

I’m doing a master's degree in communication. Since I started to travel and host them in my home, I also began to think about intercultural and international communication, so it would be nice if I could find opportunities like that and engage in. And, I strongly desire to deepen my English to express myself properly, now I feel shallow. But I discover new channels of communication.

It’s my free time this summer. We are planning one month Georgia travel together, with Frederick who I hosted and met through Couchsurfing.
