ABOUT ME
I'm a quiet, analytical flower child turned angry radical turned traveler turned teacher turned angry radical some more. I love botany but I'm really interested in all kinds of science, history, and politics.
I'm easily sidetracked. I like thoughtful people, clever solutions, smashing oppressive systems, and sitting. I'm a diplomat, a pragmatic anticapitalist, a militant humanist.
PHILOSOPHY
Whoever saves one life, saves the whole world. You can also do it by destroying capitalism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've gone back and forth between surfing and hosting. Currently I'm surfing!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My big trip was 3 years ago. WWOOFed and couchsurfed in France, WWOOFed in Greece, slept on couches in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Sudan, WWOOFed in Ethiopia, more couches in Spain, Romania, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and France again. 8 months total. I met many wonderful people and keep in touch with some of them. I want to host and help as much as possible to pay that generosity back. I'm just heading to Oregon after another, more political tour. Less official couchsurfing, more staying with friends of friends or hanging around on protest sites.

Music, Movies, and Books
Generally, I can appreciate anything, but I prefer it well crafted or with a theme I can relate to (usually political). FLCL is pure and good, The Girl in the Cafe resonated with me, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind had both, and Day of the Dead had neither, but I liked it anyway cuz of the zombies. Terry Gilliam is fantastic.
I enjoy the politics of Kimya Dawson and Alabama 3 and the feel of the Magnetic Fields and Bishop Allen. The Eels, The Mountain Goats, Beck, The Blow, The Dandy Warhols, The Decemberists, Mirah, and Cake.
My Name is Red was beautiful. Favorite book is Zodiac, where a post-post-hippy beats polluters with organic chemistry and biting cynicism.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The hospitality of total strangers.
visited 26 states (11.5%)Create your own visited map of The World or another interesting project
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how permaculture theory can be applied to your garden, how to maintain a bicycle, how to identify and process useful herbs, how to divine using geomancy, how to carve corn cob pipes, and how to make an ocarina with your hands.
I would love to learn Arabic and Turkish, and practice Spanish. I would love to learn how to weld and how to build with cob. I would love to learn how to live well while promoting global justice and traveling often.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can talk to your cat! Also I can discuss whether this prompt undermines the core values of the couchsurging project... with your cat!
