About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To change anything that I can change and that needs changing, and to accept everything else the way it is.
ABOUT ME
My wife and I are US Peace Corps volunteers in Armenia until summer 2012. We previously lived in Boston (MA) and San Francisco (CA), where we met. We've been together 17 years. I'm a sober member of AA. We're here as English teachers, which is a bit of a challenge for me because I'm not the most organized person, but I love the kids.
PHILOSOPHY
I'd rather tell you in person. I'm afraid that I would come across as dogmatic if I wrote my philosophy here, and I'm not, although I have strong feelings about some particular issues. I live because life is good. My feelings are still as messy as most people's. My thoughts, well, I don't mind if they're messy - the world is too, and it would be dangerous to try to straighten out my thoughts too much.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS. I'm a slow learner, so even completing my profile will take some time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None yet, although I've slept on plenty of random couches in my life.
Interests
My wife. Random reading. Moderate hiking. Good, slow conversation. Finding out what's on the other side of the next ridge.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: stupid stuff, mostly, but among the movies that have had an impact on me are Help; 2001: A Space Odyssey; Amarcord; and Koyaanisqatsi. Music that's currently playing includes Girl Talk, Radiohead, Pavarotti and some old Neil Young and Jonathan Richman. I'm currently reading The Black Swan but finding it boring.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent three months hitchhiking around Europe the summer I turned 16 - 1971.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some basic Armenian to help you get by in this country.
