About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to have adventures, explore, dare, and dream!!

ABOUT ME

Everything is an adventure, some bigger than others. Once upon a time I got in my car and moved across the country, and was constantly amazed to find myself in beautiful southeastern Ohio's rolling hills. So I packed my car back up and drove around the country several more times and tried living in Oregon again for a bit, but now I am happy to be back in Athens. I love meeting new people, and I need to fix my bike. I don't like sleeping in. I enjoy cultivating simple happiness, in my daily routines, food choices, interactions with others. I am pretty talkative. I love words. I love Appalachia. I liked Oregon, but Athens is home.

PHILOSOPHY

to constantly be exploring places and myself, and that everything is an adventure! And that we are all connected, in whatever magical way that means.

also: every day the sun rises, and every day the sun sets, and it is always beautiful. this means that at least two beautiful things happen every day, no matter what.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly I have participated by being a surfer. I have hosted a few times, but I more frequently find myself living in some tiny unique apartment with no furniture or inhabiting a friend's couch so instead I just try to run around and go to CS events and tell everyone I meet along the way how fabulous couchsurfing is.

BUT I just bought a house with lots of spare room, so that wayward lifestyle is soon to change!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed my way across the country three times now. Stayed with great folks all along the way! I've gotten to check out some smaller towns off the beaten path, get an idea of what life is like there, and meet some truly delightful people who are interested in the world around them.
More than once, I've randomly and at the last minute found somebody to stay with who wound up being a friend of a friend. The world gets smaller and smaller!
I'm in a new spot now and hope that I can contribute by tour-guiding... I just don't have enough good things to say about CS!

I've surfed in: Lexington, KY; Rolla, MO; Salina, KS; Flagstaff, AZ; Oklahoma City; Fayetteville, AR; Birmingham, AL; Charleston, SC; Louisville, KY; Columbus, OH; Indianapolis; Springfield, IL; Cheyenne, WY.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove 3,100 miles solo across the country, taking almost exclusively back roads and breathing in everything I could. I saw the most beautiful sunset of my life across the Kansas prairie as I drove due west - white-hot yellows, burning neon orange rays stretching as far as the eye could see.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of recipes for baked goods in my head. I am fascinated by cross-country driving trips. I am full of random facts. I like to share all of these things!
