À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
Learn how to live in one place and accumulate more stuff now that I'm no longer in Peace Corps
ABOUT ME
I just got back (it's been almost a year now, but feels like "just") from Peace Corps in Armenia. While there, I worked at the local college, teaching computer skills to teachers and students. See my blog, www.travelingev.com, for stories about this experience.
I work at a graduate school in California, doing the web and social media work to bring in prospective students. Still finding my bearings with the full-time work week!
I come from a huge family of 14 siblings: 10 brothers and 4 sisters (no, I'm not Catholic or Mormon; and yes, I know all of their names), so I have learned to get along with just about anyone. :) I love talking to interesting people. There's so much you can learn about life and about yourself, if you just take time to listen to others!
I do not smoke.
I have worked as a graphic designer and web designer; as a marketer of a charter fishing company in Alaska; and as a photographer for a short time. I love to travel and write.
PHILOSOPHY
Be accepting, and stay true to myself.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I participate by giving genuine honest reviews about the people I stay with, and help out where I can while I'm couchsurfing. Let's keep this community positive and useful for others!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first time was a night in Switzerland. The hostel I was staying at didn't have any available rooms I could pay for, so I stayed in the "couch surfing" attic for free. (Should have done that the first night! Duh!)
Since then, I have couchsurfed a few times, and have had incredible experiences, meeting new exciting people!
Centres d'intérêt
Love to travel, snowboard, play the mandolin, photography, cross country ski, hike, bike, read, draw, write, paint... Mostly I like to be active, creative, and outdoors.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
I love to read, rarely watch movies, and listen to whatever is playing. People who know me well know better than to ask, "Have you seen such-and-such movie?" because the answer is almost always, "No." I enjoy movies on occasion, but am not a movie buff.
I play the mandolin, and especially love bluegrass, oldtime country, and flamenco music. I really like live music and small bands in coffee shops.
Other instruments I have played include: violin, clarinet, and guitar.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Took a three month road trip across the country, living in a van... Also took a solo two month road trip across the country in my Suburu Forester and met some really interesting people along the way.
Have taught computer classes in Armenian, which I never thought would be possible.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I'm really good at using Photoshop, so if you need a few tips, let me know! Also, I'm an excellent proofreader. And, like any traveler, I love talking about my travels and hearing about where other people have been. We can share stories and pictures.
Of course, if you're interested in hearing about life in a big family, I know all about that! I'm also now very familiar with the ins and outs of Peace Corps, so we could talk about that, too.
