About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to meet a variety of people, travel as far as I can go, be resourceful and creative with my free time, make art, make friends, make jokes.

ABOUT ME

I am 28 years old. I just moved to Los Angeles! I pride myself (humbly! I swear!) on finding enjoyment in most experiences. My list of things I want to do, create, and learn just keeps growing and growing. I love being active, whether it's riding bikes, skating, running or hiking around. I am also a huge proponent of lying in the sun with a book and a beverage and not giving one single damn.

I'm a real person on Facebook - you can verify that! https://www.facebook.com/lpedante

I run an open-participation, ongoing art project called Art Assignment. I would love for you to take part! www.ArtAssignment.com

PHILOSOPHY

I'd like to think that I live to cultivate art, laughter, and human connection. We're all in this together and I think we should start acting accordingly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love the idea behind Couch Surfing. I think it's more important than ever that people reach out and create connections with one another and think that this project seizes that spirit. During the time I lived in Philadelphia, I fell in love with the Philly CS community and now count many of them among my closest friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted folks in Philadelphia when I lived there and have attended tons of Philadelphia meetups. I also met some great friends in the New Orleans CS community while living there. I love the CS community and can't wait to meet more of you.

Interests

I love music, dancing (bad, awful dancing on my part, but enthusiastic!), and concocting plans. In my spare time, I try to organize art events and collaborations that generally harbor inclusiveness and feel-good-shit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Novels by Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Ernest Hemingway. My list of favorite musicians is constantly evolving, but my current favorites include Born Ruffians, Dirty Projectors, Battles, The Dodos, Wye Oak.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My best friend and I had a job driving a 20' truck all over the country, selling posters to college kids. We met a ton of sweet people, fell in love with the midwest and got really good at driving without a rear-view mirror. For 2 months we traveled from West Virginia to North Dakota and back. It was an awesome and ridiculous experience. I might do it again some day.
Last spring I organized a community art project/show and the entire experience was insanely gratifying and humbling. Asking people to create art and share it, and then seeing them rise up to do magnificent things, and THEN seeing the community react to it all in a hugely positive way was one of those great moments that makes you happy to be a human.
I am also continually in awe by pretty much every sunset I have had the chance to watch in California.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to light a match with one hand and open a beer bottle with a lighter.
