About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become nothing. OK. I´ve done that.

ABOUT ME

I am 69 years old. I live mainly in a small, working mountain village whose main product is olives from small terraced fincas. My own finca slopes down to a river and has good shade in the hot summer months. It is currrently unkempt since I have been doing long-distance walking and it had a tennant who has left it in need of a good clean up. I have a house in Santibañez el Alto nearby, on the top of a hill, inside an XIth C fortress. The rooms are small but there are two spare couches boith of which can be double beds. The house is no-smoking.
I used to be in Education and then in Voluntary work. My experience seems to me to be very wide, socially.
I don't wear much under my kilt.
I spend time every day in silence and used enjoy parties. I still do but now need an early bed, so if I have guests I leave them to it and put in my ear plugs.

PHILOSOPHY

Orthodox, traditional new age Celtic liberalism with Glasgow Catholic roots and unbigotted openness to everyone except mobile phone companies.
Believe we are evolving inevitably for the better in spite of our destructive tendencies and always want to celebrate our progress.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer a couch in a field or a matress in a tent. I now also offer a couch or two in my small house. I offer space in a fabulous sierra for anyone who wants to pass by.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wonderful visitors and the one time I stayed in Paris with a couch was wonderful. On my travels I usually sleep under the stars.

Interests

Everything.
"In the past 5 years I feel I have been taken on an intense spiritual journey. I have done a lot of walking - about 10,000 km in all - but also a lot of prayer, contemplative prayer which means I have changed a lot, or so it feels. Both journeys have shown me many new landscapes and prized me away from myself."
That I wrote about 4 years ago. I thought then that I was questioning a lot of things. Now I question everything I have believed but I do aim for detachment, some form of service to others and keeping a sense of perspective. I´ve been enjoying getting older, it somehow, at last, gives some legitimacy to my irresponsablity.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste varies and I like almost everything. I am not keen on techno, but open to learn. Horror and sci-fi generally do not move me. Coelho and other writers who say what I think are my favourites.
I write a blog from time to time if you want to find out more:
