About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking in the world, staying high on life, and staying true to my passions.

ABOUT ME

A wandering soul with a penchant for getting myself into crazy travel situations. Graduated as an art student (photography mostly), worked as a jewelry designer for 5.5 years where I got to fiddle around with beads and sparkly things. Currently trying to figure out life in WA - I spend my weekends hiking, backpacking and adventuring in the backcountry.

I love living on the road, the world as my home, the comfort of sleeping curled up on a couch or with my backpack as my pillow. Call me a free spirit, it might be true. I've been hosted a ton, and have had fun hosting a few wanderers in return!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The best part of traveling is the people. The beautiful hospitality of the folks I've met around the world who have welcomed me into their lives for a short while continues to restore my faith in human nature!

I love any opportunity to cross orbits with people from different places and just delight in and learn from our similarities and differences, and hopefully teach the people I meet something new too.

Interests

Books that make me cry, bumpy potholed dusty roads, candlelight and shadows, capturing life through my camera, chillin' and grillin', climbing stuff (rocks or otherwise), cliffs and sunsets and arms spread to the wind, cute foreign accents, guitars and campfires, scuba diving, lightsabers, long bike rides in the spring (or fall, or summer), headbangin' music, mountain trails and fall foliage, breaking treeline, phoenixes, dragons and unicorns, road trippin' with windows down and music up, swinging around things on strings, hula hooping, stargazing into infinity, staring at world maps, sunlight on water.

Music, Movies, and Books

This section needs an update but I'm too lazy to do so, lol.

A Perfect Circle, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Audioslave, Blackfield, Chelsea Wolfe, The Counting Crows, The Cure, The Dandy Warhols, Dead Confederate, Disney, Dream Theater, Dredg, Evanescence, Flight of the Conchords, Flyleaf, Incubus, Jelly Jam, The Killers, Liquid Tension Experiment, Led Zeppelin, The Mars Volta, Maroon 5, Massive Attack, Matchbox Twenty, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, O.S.I., Pink Floyd, Platypus, Porcupine Tree, Portishead, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Suspense Machine, Sigur Ros, The Smashing Pumpkins, System Of A Down, Tool, Transatlantic, Yann Tiersen, Explosions In The Sky, The Raconteurs, Them Crooked Vultures, Crash Kings, Zech's Marquise, Big Sir, Royal Blood, etc

I don't watch movies as often as I should and TV even less, but I like artsy movies and anything with lightsabers, elves, TARDISes and horses.

I read a lot of novels and fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. LOTR, the Dark Materials trilogy, Terry Pratchett, Frank Hebert, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy series, Ender's Game and everything related, Everything is Illuminated, anything and everything...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Each trip I've taken has been amazing. From zip-lining off the Great Wall of China to having a runaway horse experience in Inner Mongolia, licking an iceberg in Iceland to prodding streams of lava with my walking stick on a volcano in Guatemala, scuba diving over a tropical reef in Borneo, wrapped up in a blanket on Kala Pattar, watching the sun rise slowly over Everest or simply eating deeeeelicious gelato on the steps of the Florence Duomo, every place I've been and every person I've met has taught me invaluable lessons about life and this little world we live in. Even breaking down and crying in front of a rickshaw driver on the island of Ganga Sagar in India...yep.

Teach, Learn, Share

I sing, play guitar, piano, some percussion/drums. I love trying to talk in random languages, and have been known to draw the occasional kick-ass tattoo (in pen or sharpie) for random people that I meet. I travel with a hula hoop and am always down for a spinny time!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can try to teach you some hula hoop tricks!
