About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring my new home in Chattanooga. Finding people who love it here.

ABOUT ME

I am currently a student. I enjoy getting to know interesting people. I love to be absurd and profane, and along with that I enjoy absurd conversations. I love to tell stories, but I'd rather make a story than try and tell one (that said, i do have stories) My personal interests are extremely varied so I doubt that between my extrovert persona and my myriad of things I'm into at any given time we couldn't find something to talk about or do.

PHILOSOPHY

I like finding patterns.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting and being hosted. I especially enjoyed the Berlin couchsurfing community as it was the biggest extended family I've ever had. I think community meetings and just having opportunities to share ourselves is the whole point of being a part of couchsurfing, even if we can't always host or don't travel that much.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The wanderlust this site infuses in its users is contagious. When I host I regret not joining my surfers and when I surf I regret not staying longer! Couchsurfing is making the world deeper and more enriching while at the same time making it more accessible to the people willing to discover its wonderment.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I like what is good.
Books: You have to read Master and Margarita by Michail Bulgakov (as its my favorite book right now) I also recommend reading some poems by Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Baudelaire, Georg Heym, Pushkin, and maybe Czesław Miłosz if you feel brave/religous. I also enjoy picking up some Hemingway, Vonnegut, Wells, McCarthy, Konrad, and etc.
Music: I really like music. (Ask me about why country music is good.)
Movies: Countless documentaries, HochzeitPolka, Dekalog (1-5, I want to see the rest), Blue Velvet, Death Proof (alot more Tarantino too), Eight and a half, Mrs Dalloway, Cabinet des Dr Caligari, so on and so forth

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the Perseid meteor shower from the highest mountains in Virginia (2007)
Seen a 360 degree view of the Austrian Alps (2008)
Made my own shelter out of sticks and leaves (multiple times)
Seen a piece of metal (Bismuth) levitate due to superconductivity (2007)
The first time I ever got in a plane that I can remember was in February 2008
I rode my bike home almost every day. (its only amazing once you've seen this hill)
Saw the most amazing thunderstorm of my life in Berlin, July 2010
Taught someone how to make southern style pancakes. October 2010

Teach, Learn, Share

As a good human being, I am always sharing and learning. Outright teaching is something you should ask for. I can grow plants, cook, make rope, fix computers, deal with automated answering machines, climb mountains, identify smells, adjust for error, take on leadership responsibilities, wash my clothes, fix small mechanical problems, assemble bikes, write letters
***Jan/2010*** here is my updated list:
entertain guests, make lists, tie useful knots, cook many delicous dishes, clean houses (i'll sweep AND mop), dig holes, translate, sort piles of old stuff in attics, tear things down, be fun, be miserable, write papers, edit press releases, copy microfilm, perform detailed research, analyze literature, teach your children valuable life lessons, serve as a wilderness guide, be a buddy, play accordion obnoxiously, crush soda/beer cans to recycle, exercise, look pretty, mow lawns, paint houses, use a hammer, lash poles together, tend to gardens and pets, watch movies, obtain obscure objects, repair bicycles, wash windows, deliver motor vehicles, change oil and oil filter, carry heavy objects, think, boil water, use a compass, forage for food, make documents official, sketch badly, and the list is always growing
**this needs to be redone, as i can now simultaneously perform many of these things, and now many many more**
