Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To somehow have a positive effect on our world; To make my family proud; To be happy

ABOUT ME

GOOD TRAITS: I'm a pretty positive person. I'm a great listener. I'm very respectful. I'm very open-minded.

BAD TRAITS: Sometimes I'm too happy-go-lucky and I put my foot in my mouth. I also have trouble organizing my time. I take too long to make decisions.

MORE STUFF:
One of my greatest regrets is not having enough time to keep up with all of the fun, interesting people that I've met in my life.

I love partying. I think there's an animal in me that needs to be let loose at least once a week.

I have 4 brothers and sisters. I'm very close with them and my parents.

A little history: I grew up in London Ontario; a pretty, narrow-minded city in the very south of Canada, between the great lakes. My family spent the summers at our cottage on Amherst shore, Nova Scotia. After highschool, I lived in Australia for a year. I backpacked the east coast. Sydney was great for coming out of the closet. I met my boyfriend (and now husband) Sylvain there. We did 3 years long distance while I studied architecture in Ottawa and spent the springs planting trees in northern Ontario. I finally moved to France, learned the language for a year and a half, then studied industrial design for four more. I finally did a semester in China and travelled Vietnam and Thailand before moving back to Toronto, where I've been for the last year. Currently, I'm preparing some furniture projects while bartending on the weekends.

PHILOSOPHY

Experiences improve over time, possessions don't.

Grumpiness is contagious, so try to always smile and minimize the complaining!

"Those who run seem to have all the fun" -Madonna

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a guest, I like to do more than my share of the dishes, bring back groceries, etc. I like spending time with my hosts and catching a glimpse of how they like to spend their free time in the city.

I would love to host people at my place but my roommate is against it. I look forward to being able to do better than this once I move out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In France, I have put up a few traveling Canadian acquaintances. I think I did a good job of showing them the city (whether it was Rennes or Brest) and a good time.
I've surfed a few couches in Beijing and Shanghai where I met incredible people who showed me the most incredible places.

Intereses

design; Drunken Dancing; green living; The Sun; climbing trees; almost all food; nature excursions; artsy films; pretty much anything Scandinavian; I'm quite the dinosaur-geek...
NOT: fake anything (plants, etc.); bureaucracy; coffee; materialism; light (or American) beer; flashy logos; frivolous plastic junk

Música, películas y libros

"Artsy" movies, horror movies

Progressive music of all genres, as long as it's not too depressing; I have a taste for good minimalist techno.

Favourite books that haven't been made into movies (yet): Something Happened by Joseph Heller, The Chrysalids by John Wyndham,

Algo increíble que he hecho

On the first morning of my first day of my first trip ever to France, I found myself knee-deep in the frigid April waters of the Mediterranean and an octopus grabbed my foot. It was not what I expected as a first impression of France!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I gotta think about this one. I'll be back with something interesting later...
