I'm Freya, a creative soul from Scotland, UK but with family all over the world :))

I've been on Couchsurfing for a few years now, I've hosted a bunch of people so far and I've had the best experiences with them.
I've learned something new from each person I've encountered and have enjoyed being tour guide for guests and showing them my hometown. I will definitely host again the next time I’m not constantly travelling :) will update this later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally came here out of curiosity, I have very much enjoyed hosting and I usually enjoy surfing although I have had some negative experiences with hosts unfortunately. I also like to use the Hangouts feature to meet likeminded people.

I love to see foreign places through the eyes of the people that live there. I don't want to take the well-beaten path of the average tourist, but experience something new to me and connect with whoever I am staying with.

I love to give to others in ways beyond monetary value- a shared experience is something far more valuable to me and good memories will stay forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered with a family near Dresden and trained 9 horses and 4 guard and tracking dogs. We would go riding in the forest often. (One of the best experiences of my life so far). I saw wild boar and learned how to find a kind of edible mushroom to make stew with chicken.

I visited San Francisco Bay and lived in a houseboat with family for a week. I saw pelicans, flying fish and a bunch of loud sealions.

I renovated an old greenhouse in Poland for a friend and lived in a hut like a hermit :)

I helped a friend herd his cows on horseback on a ranch in Panamá, and ran a business training and competing with protection dogs. (Me encantaría viajar a los latinoamericanas de nuevo, tengo muchos plans:))

I went to a tekno truck parade in Berlin with a bunch of Dutch hippies.

I swam on a surfboard of another CSer in a lake in Berlin, a different experience from windsurfing in the North Sea :)

I organised a group art session, held a flame in a Día de Los Muertos parade, worked as a tour guide and partied in an attic in Brussels on Hallowe’en.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching and learning languages- I'm very happy to help you improve your English if needed. I speak intermediate Spanish and I love learning small phrases in any language.

I am a painter and you will most likely see me drawing or writing a lot. I can show you how I personally draw if that's something you're interested in. I adore music; most of my family are musicians- I would be delighted to tell you more about this.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very friendly and always up for going out somewhere, whether it's a pub, to see live music or going out dancing. I will also be content with just talking and sharing experiences, every new person has something different to offer.

I will happily cook you dinner, and I can accommodate for a vegan or vegetarian diet :)
