About Me

I have just finished a masters at the University of Leeds, studying MRes Biodiversity and Conservation. I enjoy dancing over enthusiastically, going to the pub, vegan food, spending time with nice people talking nonsense and being in a field. I'm a compulsive volunteerer and like helping and being involved in my community where I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like meeting new people. I like the concept of couchsurfing and think that it is better for people to help each other when spare rooms are available. It is also a great way to get more knowledge of the area.

Interests

I'm interested in the ecology/conservationy side of things. I like to dance at every opportunity, including swing dancing and just general prancing about. I like drinking beer and meeting people. I like motorbikes but haven't been able to store one since I moved to Leeds (not much need for 1 when you walk everywhere).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of all of these. Music and film preference depends a lot on what mood I'm in. As for books I'm currently trying to work my way through the classics that get refered to all the time but I've never actually got round to reading. My favourites are Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. I like watching Kung-fu and other fighting films on some days. I am a fan of rubbish B-movies and superhero films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Someone walked up to me in the street in Vietnam and asked me if I wanted to buy a motorbike (a bright green Russian Minsk). I did. Spent 3 months travelling round the country alone. It was a brilliant way to see the country, including bits you miss on tour buses, public buses or trains. I very nearly stayed out there longer but thought I should probably come back to start uni.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to show people around Leeds.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We do communal food in our house so any hosts would be more than welcome to eat with us. A different person cooks each day of the week. If a guest has limitted time, we could feed them. If they would like to cook with us, they would be welcome to.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, France, Germany, Laos, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
