About Me
Heiho,
I‘m a doctoral student from Germany, currently starting my PhD in Social Data Science.
I love to meet people who are interested in sharing experiences or love to talk or debate about life, the universe and everything; ideally while enjoying a good beer in a nice pub.
I already spend a year in a school in Boliva and traveled to some other LatinAmerican places too, enjoying our astonishing nature and most different people. I moved around in Germany as well and stayed a year in Italy last year :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I chouchsurfed with a friend in Panama and found it quite an amazing experience. Not only getting to know great people but experiencing life in a different kind of setting or culture too. I can profit from the knowledge of locals and dive deeper into the place´s flair that way. Anyway, I think its a great concept!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies and some years ago I even began a blog, recommending movies to people who have Netflix or AmazonPrime, but don´t know what to watch (check out filmbegeistert.de if you´re intersted (German)).
My favourite movies are Dead Poets Society, Children of Men, Arrival or Dune.
I like to read Fantasy like Lord of the Rings (I´m really into that) or enjoy a more complex lecture of various thinkers (like Machiavelli, Gramsci or currently H.D. Thoreau).
Music-wise I´m relatively open and it depends on when you ask: I mainly listen to electronic music, especially goa, and also like punk, rock and occasionally metal. Besides that I am extremely interested in smaller sports like Jugger or Rowing and also started to do bouldering.
The odds are that we have something in common, as I am quite open to various hobbies :D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A friend and I were hiking in Panama onto the highest Vulcano there. We wanted to spend the night about 500m away from the top and hike the last part just before sunset in the morning. We found a nice place to camp, unfortunately it rained quite a lot so it was pretty cold when we arrived around 5pm already and all the wood for the fire was soaked. We managed to make a small and rather crappy campfire and spend the coldest night of our lives - constantly fueling the fire with new half-wet tree branches, blowing until our lungs burned and enjoyed a kinda warm meal; we didn´t think it would cool down that much...
In the morning we saw the sunset from the top, and it was worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
Did you know that the 'ScrollLock' on your keyboared was created to be able to scoll with your arrow keys?
Unfortunately, this is pretty useless for modern computers but you could create a shortcut key using the 'ScrollLock' - creating your own personal key :D
What I Can Share with Hosts
While couchsurfing can provide a free place to stay, it´s not the reason I like the concept as much as I do. Getting to know people and places is not that easy on your own and the opportunity to meet someone who can actually show me around is wonderful. I think that there are more great people out there than I could ever meet - but here could be a start to meet some of them.
