About Me

My name is Robin, and I am a barista and a student of life.

I first and foremost am open to all types of people and appreciate learning about individuals who are different from myself. Couch surfing has been a great way for me to meet a broader range of people than I have ever imagined.

My world view is one that is always evolving to be more open and understanding. I like learning about different cultures and philosophies that can enrich my life.

So far, I have been able to visit a handful of countries, states and continents and my journey is just getting started.
I have discovered that travelling is the best teacher of life, and is also incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling.

As I mentioned above, I am a barista and I love working in the specialty coffee industry. I highly enjoy tasting things. Food, coffee, beer, wine, the list goes on. Cuisine is a general subject of interest for me. I am also passionate about yoga, especially Ashtanga, but really I am drawn to all types of yoga and meditation . In my free time I like to explore the outdoors and go to new places in search of new adventures. I am also interested in tattoo art, personal expression in style, design, exploring consciousness, cooking, vegetarian living, and gaining a deeper understanding of the world we live in.

I feel as though I can get along with almost any person that i meet, and i find it pointless to ever be angry, jealous, mean, or negative so I try to maintain and amicable relationship with the people that surround me. Hopefully that will include you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I try to travel somewhat often and I usually use couchsurfing as a medium to meet locals, but not to exclude foreigners and expats-sometimes they're equally interesting ;)

Mostly I am looking for genuine experiences and couchsurfing is a genius way to find more of those experiences because it removes the element of a monetary motivation. We are mostly all on here because we genuinely care. At least, that has been my experience and I hope it continues to be so.

Music, Movies, and Books

Open to all forms of music, movies, books and art-forms.

I enjoy documentaries and more independent films than features.

I am drawn to independent or sub-cultural music more than mainstream. That spans from classical music to hip hop to grindcore to post rock to jazz and more. Hip hop and its culture are of special interest.

Books right now: Richard Dawkins, Yogananda, Lao Tzu, and the Buddha. But I'm always looking to learn about new ideas.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about coffee! Or I can share my Yoga practice with you, but I'm in no way an instructor.

I don't have too many expectations from my hosts but if you can take some time from your busy day to show me something local I will definitely appreciate it! Otherwise I can certainly explore on my own, no problem.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My hosts can expect me to be open and receptive to learning about their lives and interests. I am prepared to share as much as I can, but I'm also sensible to when people need their space. Every host situation is unique and requires the guest to gauge how much interaction is welcome. I hope I can bring you as a host great company and conversation. We can explore the local happenings or chill inside and have a great time either way.

Any place I go to I try and make a vegetarian dinner at least once for or with my hosts. It has always been rewarding and it can be an enjoyable way to show my appreciation.
