About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to put peanut butter in all of my ice cream

ABOUT ME

right now I am working as a full-time volunteer, as a preschool teacher. in the time that I have left-over, I write, perform spoken word, sing loudly in the streets after a beer, and do crafty sorts of things. I laugh all the time, to make sure that people are laughing with me, not at me. I can be rather animated, but I also respect the need for down-time, and am rather flexible with that.

PHILOSOPHY

synchronicity = opportunity

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

right now, I would like to host occasionally and meet travelers so that I can be re-inspired to get out and about myself!

I think that sharing is a practical and beautiful thing, especially the sharing of time and space. it's so personal and though I'm used to having a known friend crash occasionally, I am interested in making new friends and extending the same hospitality.

with the not-so-secret motive of finding it myself on the road soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a little through this site, met some people to hang out with, it's cool. most people sleeping on my couch end up not coming from this site though.

Music, Movies, and Books

I occasionally watch movies, of various genres, but I tend not to sit down and watch things unless someone else provides the TV and media player...

I prefer to read, and I guess I have leanings toward non-fiction with a social bent, sc-fi, surreality, and poetry, I will give most any book a chance if it grabs my interest.

my musical taste is ever-evolving. I love music that is capable of moving me on many levels at once. I like gypsy-type stuff, music that is raucous, soulful, and would sound great around a campfire. right now my favorite band is Blackbird RAUM. I like to sing, I love it when impromptu jam sessions break out with people just using whatever is within reach to make it happen; if it goes on for long enough, it's a good way to hear me sing or wail, and maybe even throw some lyrics in the mix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

in Hawai'i, I went whale watching, and saw lots of beautiful whales! someone had brought a high-power set of binoculars, so I saw some amazing detail as a whale breached. this was also the day that my niece was born, so it has a lot of magic for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

wanna knit or crochet? I can teach you that, I really dork out on it.

also, I like to share my writing, and hear others' work as well. I like intimate critique sessions.

I really love performing, and I always feel like I need practice. open-minded musicians and performers, I would love to play with you! I can be shy sometimes with it, but I warm up to those who are more interested in being caught up with it than those just trying to be cool. I would love to learn to relax into the moment more quickly.

I like riding my bike through the city, though I am fairly ignorant about the mechanics. I want to remedy that. I'm getting a little better as time goes by, but I have a long way to go.
