I love listening to The Beatles, Jimi Hendix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Fela Kuti, The White Stripes, The Doors, Ravi Shankar, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden, Link Wray, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Kasabian, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Tame Impala, Kasabian, Altin Gun, Ali Farka Toure', Allah Las and Death Poets. Including classical music by Beethoven and of course jazz by John Coltrane. South African musicians I love are Tidal Waves, Ruff Majik, The Tazers, Retro Dizzy, Runaway Nuns, BCUC, The Kiffness, MOUSE and Valiant Swart.
Some of my favourite movies inlcude Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, 2001 A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, Fitzgarraldo, A Fistful of Dollars, Seven Samurai, Bande à Part, La Haine, Inglorious Basterds, Noth by Northwest, Bottle Rocket, Fight Club, The Shining, The Darjeeling Limited, Samsara, Momento, American psycho, Nosferatu and not forgetting The Lord of the Rings.
Books I loved reading, or in the process of reading, inlcude Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, Life In Freedom by Jiddu Krishnamurti, An Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, Long Walk To Freedom by Nelson Mandela, Shantaram, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, A Catcher In The Rye, A Clockwork Orange (I tried), Ah But Your Land Is Beautiful, The First Circle, Kringe In Die Bos, Fiela Se Kind, Manaka.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A bunch of my friends and I hiked deep into the wilderness of the Drakensberg mountain and slept in caves for two nights. It was a crazy experience. I want to go back and do at least five nights in that beautiful unknown!
