ABOUT ME

Most of my life I have worked with people with limited abilities {generally labeled 'disabled'}
May I start with asking you a few personal questions?

Are you able to stand on your head and blow your sox off?
No? Then I'm afraid I will have to put a label on you too,but don't worry society won't label you 'cause you are a 'mainstreamer' you don't look or act much different so you must be normal. Normal is not a label,it’s well, normal- but aren’t we all normal with various degrees of abilities? ,
Try telling that to 'Human Society'.I did for 3o years.
It was a very challenging and rewarding time.

I'm now living in Tasmania providing a little assistance to those young couples whose limitated abilities make it difficult to enjoy their 'Special Wedding Day' because of limited choices offered.-I am preparing the place to provide service to those asking - are there any steps? What if Aunty was to take a turn? Will John be able to hear? Where can we get an interpreter Will people stare? etc etc Then that's just the service now for a suitable place to celebrate! Then to find a celebrant to assist you through this.Yes Me!! Me!! I can do this.

My home - a little chapel in it’s former life - is being altered to accommodate these needs.
I have just received registration as a civil celebrant to complete the picture.
The extension plans will also enhance the already running respite home for families with terminally ill children.
I just want to pay back for the wonderful life I am having !

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New to couch surfing,
Looking forward to having a break between responsibilities I have had visits from surfers from 'all over' and enjoyed sharing stories and playing 'tour guide' with them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have been a wwoofer host for 25 years, have wwoofed many times myself, so have had many years learning ,giving and receiving from people the world over.However I am finally getting away to do my first 'surf' myself - so look out hosts here I come !!!
