About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm Damo, brought up in the swiss countryside where I enjoyed stable, organized, peaceful childhood.
Then, I developed a sense for adventure and eventually escape out of the bubble to hit the road and discover the world.

It has been a continuous journey, now I live and work in Shenzhen, China.

I can enjoy some good wine while sharing serious talk , but I can have lots of fun on one of those nights out hiting the dancefloor. I a quite flexible, easy-going person, just want to live the moment. Don't take things too seriously, because we are on this planet for such a short time, aren't we ?

PHILOSOPHY

"The miracle is not to fly in the air, or to walk on the water, but to walk on earth"

Happiness is not a destination, but a way of life !

What comes is better than what came

Don't be sad, because it is over, be happy because it happened.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I particulary like that the world has so much diversities to offer, Couchsurfing is a great to connect with people to learn from each other, always question your existence, what you have been taught and redefine your own identity.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a few people in Germany, had such a great time showing them around and cooking together. Sadly, I had to stop, because my landlord thought I was subletting the flat. Kind of get in trouble with him ^^

I contacted local people in South East Asia to ask if they wanted to meet up to introduce me their city and culture.

I got help from the couchsurfing community in Australia.

I surfed in Portugal and Middle east, the people have always been caring and friendly. I love the concept.

Interests

* Swimming, I often swim. Any water-related activities, I'm in.

* I love nature, national parks, hiking. Such a great feeling to reach your destination point no matter how physical it was

* Languages, Human languages is incredible, fasinating, I love imporving my language skills.

* I love eating local food, discovering new flavor.

* Get lost in a city, discover its hidden treasure. I don't use iphone app., so I really get lost, rely on the sun for direction.

* I like visiting touristy place, as well as getting out of the touristy path. I do both, good balance. Funnily, most famous does not mean most impressing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Honestly, I am not a fan of movies, books in general. All I watch/read is always in a foreign language which I want to improve. I would only watch/read under recommendation, because I feel like it is time consumming.

Music: I listen all kind of music depending on the mood. I can enjoy classics or chart music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

mmmmh One amazing thing I've done, hard to pick as each experience is unique.

I slept on a picnic table on the beach at the Dead Sea in Israel. The wind was blowing so strongly, impossible to sleep. At that time, I was thinking "what the hell am I doing with my life". In the early morning, the wind stoped, the colour in the sky was amazing. Scenary with palms, dead sea at the background was astonishing. I went for a swim, alone, while the sun was rising over the jordanian mountains. Peaceful, unforgettable.

No matter how your body endure, it can lead to amazing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you French, English and a good level in German, also teaching swimming or how to solve a rubbicks cube ^^

I like listening to other and learning from others, I like economy, history, politic, culture, I would love to get some insights from your country. If you can teach me how to play guitar, practice mandarin with me, I'd be more than grateful.
