About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To survive raising my kids so that I have enough money to eat pizza and cake every day for the rest of my life. Beyond that I love reading about science, doing science, and writing.

ABOUT ME

I'm a committed and hardworking mother, wife, teacher. I'm passionate about many things, including the importance of language, culture, friendship, creativity and fun. I'm glad I have a life that is interesting and challenging to me, 'cause it keeps me getting up every morning!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet interesting people. I find that I have enjoyed my older (over 30) guests the most, as they tend to have more life experience I guess.

I really hate it when I'm looking forward to someone coming and they don't show up though . . . People with firm plans are more appreciated.

Also, to be accepted you would need to write to me probably at least a week ahead of your desired stay date; some days I am too busy to look at email and respond to requests.

Interests

Pretty much everything. If I don't have anything better to hold my attention, I'm OK with reading the description on the shampoo bottle or the toilet paper rolls. But almost anything is more interesting than that! I love to read, garden, be around my children and husband, dance and do aerobics, talk, make learning as engaging as I can for those I'm teaching, eat delicious food, and sleep.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have gone through some emotionally difficult times in my life--adopting a baby who stayed in our home for 8 months, who I had to return to her birthmother, losing a job, adopting a 7-year-old child who had to adjust to a new family, brothers & sisters, language and culture--and I think I have emerged from the fire of those experiences a stronger and wiser person, with God's help. I long for a life without pain or struggle, but realize that would not help me become a better person. I think the struggle of life can make people richer and more interesting, more beautiful and powerful. The power of experiences, and how people respond to them, is an amazing thing that I see all the time around me. Oh yeah, and the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China were pretty amazing too!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some stuff about exercise and nutrition. I have a lot of experience with raising kids and have thought a lot about it. I can knit & sew. I love to scrapbook. I'm fascinated by religion.

Countries I’ve Lived In
