About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Let go and laugh

ABOUT ME

Greg - I'm a fiction writer. I do work to support this but my writing is my top priority. I like nature, great friends, traveling, the Pacific, Oregon, California, Arles, trees, mountains, art, painting, Vermeer, William H. Gass...

Check out my fiction -

I like honesty. Street smarts are more important than book smarts. I enjoy talking with people who have experienced a bunch of things. Learning is big with me. Pushing myself to get rid of fear is important. However cliche (and I don't think it's that cliche) I try to live in the moment and not worry about the past or the future, because doing so will not make my present any better, whoever much I might fool myself that it might.

PHILOSOPHY

Greg - I live my life to learn and try to think of myself second. I go with my heart and gut in most areas. I trust them both. I like to give without thinking of receiving. My parents taught me well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Greg - We couchsurfed in Italy. Very good. We recommend Florence. Staying at the hostel.

Just last summer I couchsurfed at an acquaintence's Vanagon (VW van and wagon) shack in Ashland, Oregon. I stayed in an old silver mobile home from the 70's while helping this fun repair man move around buses without engines at midnight.

In Barcelona I remember meeting some girls at a youth hostel and getting invited to Balboa, Spain to spend a few nights with their family. It was great. We laughed, I could hardly speak Spanish but the girls and their families treated me with a kindness that breaks my heart when I think of it. We watched soccer and saw a Basque demonstration.
