About Me

I am a simple person who is continuously seeking inspiration and finding satisfaction in all the little things in life. Be it a morning run, an afternoon coffee, an evening sunset or a night time star gazing. Life is too short to live it the complicated way.

I started travelling solo since I was 17, back when travelling alone was still considered a crazy thing for people around me. But I did it anyway, triggered by the urge to see the world and explore what this world has to offer. The journey since then has been amazing and I believe there will be more to come.

I take travelling as a chance for myself to learn to see things from different perspective of life, to constantly get out of my comfort zones and to beat all sorts of stereotypes instead of simply comforming to them. Being raised in a relatively conservative Asian background, I do frequently get questioned about the purpose of travelling "too much". And when people think I am crazy travelling alone to places like Iran and India, I know I will proof them wrong.

I do think that I am quite a friendly and easy-going person with good sense of humour. I appreciate good conversation, people and things I have in my life, work hard to strive through life while not taking things for granted.

I love wondering around to take pictures. I love catching people's reaction and streets. Do check out my instagram profile @kai_kaiii to know about me. It is amazing to be able to record a moment that is worth visiting back once in a while :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have heard a lot amazing stories about Couchsurfing and I think it is a good platform for me to learn to be a better traveler besides being able to meet interesting people from all parts of the world. To me, travelling is not just about seeing the most famous landmarks or tasting the most delicious food. I strive to understand and feel the cultures and dynamics of a place as I believe every bit of this world has got its unique stories to share. And I think it would be great to have an experienced local that would be able to show me the hidden gems as I aspire in-depth understanding of a place rather than just skin-deep sightseeing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived in the jungle on my own for a week when I was getting my King Scout certificate, kayak through the sea for eight hours. Travelling solo to see the world and to meet interesting people may not sound extremely special, but to me it is one amazing thing that peoole should do in the life. I look forward to gaining more splendid experiences in all the journeys I will be embarking on.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I enjoy cooking a lot so perhaps I can teach you one or two dishes that I am good with. I am also fluent in Mandarin so I would be great of help if you fancy learning some.

Learn: I always love asking and learning about traditions and cultures from all over the world. It would also be great to learn a few of your local dishes so that I can cook them myself when I miss them!

Share: I love sharing experiences and stories I had encountered during my every travel journey. We can also spend time sharing thoughts and ideas on different aspects of life and ways of living.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe being able to see the world is probably one of the most amazing things to do in life. Every travelers end up with different stories and experiences that are worth sharing and listening. I may not be the best story-teller, but I am sure I am a good listener. So let's share some stories over good food and wines!

I also enjoy cooking. Being an international student studying abroad, the only way to cure your craving for hometown food is to learn to cook them yourself! So let's share some cooking tips maybe?
