ABOUT ME

I like to involve myself in all kinds of fun stuff. I rap, I do experimental photography, I desiring earrings and t-shirts, I perform improv comedy, and I teach Laughter Yoga and I work in a gallery.

I love laughing, fun, travelling, taking photos, talking to strangers, experiencing new things, going on adventures, and eating cheese.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted my first couch-surfer a few years back when I had the space in my apartment. Right now my roommates and I are hosting someone from Vancouver on our ouch since February so unfortunately we have no room for surfers right now.

I've had amazing experiences hosting others and I even got to meet the guy who founded couch surfing! How cool is that?

My first surfing experience was awful though. I went to NYC alone for my birthday and made the mistake of staying with a guy. He told me his air mattress was broken and that we had to share his bed. I've slept beside my guy friends before and never had a problem but this host decided to try to take advantage of me to the point where I was really scared. He didn't want to listen when I said no. The next day he kicked me out because I did not have sex with him, and it was my birthday! I tried complaining about him on couch surfing but basically because I had no witness I could not prove anything. I just wanted his account to be banned because it was clear that he does this all the time with female surfers and I want him to be stopped. I didn't want other girls to find themselves in this situation. Couch surfing did nothing, the guy kept his account open and decided to make up a nasty review about how awful I was (to my surprise!).

After that I stopped surfing because the experience was so negative and I never wanted to ever surf with someone again in fear that it would happen again.

It's been 3 years and with the encouragement from fellow surfers, I've decided to give it another try.
