About Me

I'm generally content with my life as long as I'm surrounded by good food and music. I always enjoy making new friends - in the end, it's not the sights you've seen that linger in your memory, but the people you've met and the experiences you've shared with them. Also, I really think I may life my life through my stomach. Savory, sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, and better if they're all together. Come to Los Angeles and I'll show you my favorite taco trucks and sketchy noodle spots.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

You can catch a glimpse of life as a local, and get a free place to stay - doesn't get any better than that! Some of the most interesting people I've met have been through couchsurfing; my first guest was an Austrian girl that hitchhiked in January from Nova Scotia to Alaska, built an igloo using a book she rented from a library, and lived in it for a week. How rad is that?

Interests

All things spicy, all things funky, people watching, photography, hole in the wall restaurants, dj's that can actually mix, escaping to nature but also the hustle of a city, getting lost in the music at a concert, the weird side of youtube, animals being buddies, anyone I can learn from.

Music, Movies, and Books

Different music for different moods. From funk to flamenco, I'm into it if the music is soulful or if I can't help but move my feet to the beat. As I write this, I'm reminded of a party I went to a few months back: a free all vinyl set with Theo Parrish, Marcellus Pittman, and Zernell. Straight virtuoso mixing, the energy was turned up to 10, and sometime during the set everything that was going on in my life, that was happening outside that room, just melted away, in which the only thing that mattered was sharing a moment of deep, profound music with everyone on the dancefloor. Those are the moments I live for.

I'm currently reading the odd and wonderful autobiography of Charles Mingus. I sometimes travel with a copy of Yusef Komunyakaa's "Magic City" or the "Tao of Photography"

I love how a movie can transport you into a completely foreign world (like Alien) or slow down time (Paris, Texas), and TV can take the time to really develop it's characters (finally finished the Sopranos). And who doesn't like the Big Lebowski?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw the green flash as the sun set while crossing the golden gate bridge.
