About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Graduate. It's about time... :)

ABOUT ME

I live with my girlfriend (Psyane), our two cats and my 80+ grand-aunt in a smaller city near Frankfurt.

When I have the time I do mountainbike trips, repair someones bike, enjoy photography, do garden work, engange for animal rights, stargaze or cook & eat yummy vegan food.

I am a natureloving person and do like to spend time outside, alone or in a group. I am interested in animal watching, plants, astronomy and pretty much everything about the natural world.

I don't smoke but will moderately consume alcohol whenever there's a social occasion.

People wouldn't describe me as shy: I will talk about personal things like relationships and personal problem more openly than others, because I think those are the most important things to talk about, with friendly strangers and close friends alike.

Concerning accomodations, I am undemanding: My girlfriend once found me sleeping peacefully with my hips on a fork. No drugs involved.

PHILOSOPHY

"The heart must submit itself courageously
to life’s call without a hint of grief,
A magic dwells in each beginning,
protecting us, telling us how to live."

or, in as in the original, german version by Hermann Hesse ("Steps"):

"Es muß das Herz bei jedem Lebensrufe
Bereit zum Abschied sein und Neubeginne,
Um sich in Tapferkeit und ohne Trauern
In andre, neue Bindungen zu geben.
Und jedem Anfang wohnt ein Zauber inne,
Der uns beschützt und der uns hilft, zu leben."

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Everything ranging from classical orchestrated music via feminist rap to gipsy punk or house. I don't really care for genre, as long as I get the goosebumps.

Books: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, period. Jostein Gaarder's are great, but you will most probably catch me ready a fantasy novel (Lukianenko, Ice and Fire, Dresden Files...).

Movies: I'll just mention Fatih Akin here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most recent hightlight was a bicycle camping trip along the baltic sea coast with two former strangers:

Sleeping right on the beach, watching bats catching mosquitos, with the sea whispering in our ears, snakes in the water. Cuddling up under a tarp surprised by a heavy thunderstorm on another day. Living with a minimum of things and monney we took along, moving by our own energy, cycling all day long, navigating by old maps and on sight in a country without speaking the language, still communicating successfully. Bathing and washing in a stream covered by water lilys, swarming with fireflies.

It was beauty and harmony like I experienced never before in my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Repair their bycicle, prepare a tasty vegan dinner (or wedding cake), make some up-to-date passport- or application photos. Or just share some wine and have a laugh.

I will also gladly provide you with some german food and drinks, as far as possible due to my means of travel!
