Hey there! We are Slava and Julia, two young easy-going people who love to travel and meet new people from all over the world :)
We have just moved to Helsinki, Finland and we will be happy to host some travelers here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have both surfed other people's couches and hosted couchsurfers in the past - it was great every time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is a wonderful community. We first tried it a few summers ago when we embarked on a mini voyage of Europe. We had no idea about how it was going to turn out and whether it was a good idea at all, but every single one of the experiences we had then was very special. Since then we have hosted a few times as well and hosting turned out to be just as much fun - we always did our best to treat our guests the way we wanted to be treated when surfing. To cut it short, couchsurfing is truly an experience. It always depends on your attitude (maybe a little bit on your luck as well) - if you are open to discovering new places, new people, new cultures, and rediscovering yourself along the way, you'll enjoy it!

Interests

- foreign languages (both graduated with a degree in languages majoring in English and minoring in German)
- music (Slava is a guitarist and Julia is a fan of his talent) :)

Music, Movies, and Books

There are dozens of movies we love but "Schindler's List" holds a special place in both of our hearts. We are also into Tarantino's films.
Similarly, there are many authors we love reading - from classics to contemporary. A few names that come to mind - Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Bulgakov, Remarque, Palahniuk, Murakami etc.
As for the music, we listen to a lot of different genres - from indie and electronic music to jazz and retro.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slava played the guitar for change in the streets of Helsinki, which was an amazing experience for the citizens of the city :))
Julia has been behind the Niagara Falls! It is very loud there!

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach you English and Russian, as well as how to play the guitar, cook vegetarian borsch or a fast and easy version of lohikeitto (Finnish salmon soup).
