About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find contacts in Memphis, TN and New Orleans by mid-November
ABOUT ME
I'm a Boston boy without the accent. I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2005, following family and a great job offer, and I've enjoyed my time overall in the midwest, though I miss the diversity and late-night distractions of New York City, where I lived for just a few short months before moving here. I don't miss being broke. I've also lived on Cape Cod; San Jose, Costa Rica; Washington D.C.; and Providence, Rhode Island. I try to make it to Latin America or San Francisco once every couple of years.
PHILOSOPHY
Do unto others...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm a relatively new homeowner and I usually have an extra bedroom available, but my significant other is a tough sell on this Couchsurfing stuff, so there's that. If you just need a drink, a cup of coffee or a tour to a museum or bar or what not, call me a taxi. I mean, call me your taxi. I mean, I'll take you.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Sometimes I sleep on my own couch at home, so I can watch the TV. Does that count?
Interests
Reading, writing, eating, live music, movies, and eating lots of food. Blues jams, bluegrass, and blue-alterna-rock, and sad songs say so much...

Music, Movies, and Books
"Donnie Darko" is the best film ever, though "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" comes darn tootin' close. I also like foreign films, especially scary ones from Spain and Asian. I listen to a lot of Bright Eyes, Counting Crows, some harder stuff, some softer stuff, etc. Indie music from Minneapolis rocks == check out my playlist on MySpace.com at www.myspace.com/frederickMelo
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In San Francisco, there was a little bayside trampoline-on-steroids you could hook yourself up to and jump way into the sky. I did. The crowd ooohed and aaaahed as I did a million flips and acrobatic tricks that you're not really supposed to do. I think it cost me $10 and it remains one of the highlights of my little life. I have also jumped into a bull ring and faced off against a small bull in Costa Rica! I outran his tusks or horns or whatever they're called, but only barely.
Countries I’ve Visited
Colombia, France, Guatemala, Mexico
