About Me
Furkan Temir, born in a small town near Eastern Turkey, in 1995. After spending childhood years, he has moved to Istanbul, where he earned a scholarship for the cinema department in Sehir University. Concurrently, he has developed an interest on photojournalism and travelled many times in and outside the country for his projects. During the first year in university, his photography took place in international media such as The Guardian, Time, Stern and Paris Match. In the meanwhile he started a long-term project about the people who escaped from the Islamic State -or even the idea of it- and lived inside or outside their countries as refugees. He had several journeys to Syria and Iraq by that time.
When he was seventeen, he definitely decided that this is the kind of work for his life, in the border of Syria where he went for photography. By reason of he could not continue his education regularly, he was dismissed from school and had to register to another.
He's still taking photos and videos for his ongoing project with refugees and also his personal photo-stories. He aims to do other works focused on minorities, middle-east and the geography he lives in.
