About Me

US/Italy dual citizen. Rootless cosmopolitan. I’m someone who’d rather spend eight hours wandering around a city aimlessly than seeing the sights. I love a city block that still looks like it’s stuck in the mid‑’90s, a busy market, or a random side street, and I’m happy to just keep walking, watching, and snacking. Museums and grand monuments are amazing when you run into them, but the experience of visiting them can feel repetitive from country to country; the little everyday corners are what stick with me, especially since my trips are short.

I like talking about almost anything—religion, politics, how the tea is made—whatever my host or a new friend finds interesting.

Work‑wise, I’ve spent about fifteen years in healthcare quality, working to improve the quality of end‑of‑life care inside a large government hospital system. Lately I’ve shifted toward international development. Right now, I’m working with an NGO in rural Pakistan write grants, plan projects, and polish reports so they can keep kids in school and get new programs funded.

So: long walks, good talks. That’s me in a nutshell. I signed up for Couchsurfing in 2008 (!), but it took me until 2025 to have my first stay. It was amazing, and I’m hoping for many more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because, after so many trips where I holed up in hotels or Airbnbs, I realized something was missing. These days I can pull out Google Maps, tap a few buttons to find dinner, and retreat to a private room, but at the end of the day I don’t always feel like I traveled the way I did back in 2005—before smartphones. Landing in a new country back then meant being completely lost, forced to dive in head‑first and rely on the people around me. That bewildering feeling was incredible because it pushed me to connect.

Now that everything is so easy—phones, contactless payments, internet everywhere—we don’t need other people as much, and it’s easy to miss the human element that actually makes countries unique. Geography can look different, sure, but the real difference is the people and their culture.

So I’m here to meet those people and hear what locals think about their own country and the world. And it goes both ways: I’d love to host travelers and share my perspective as an American (and as of recently, Italian :) citizen—about my city, my culture, and anything else that interests you.

When it comes to hanging out, I’m flexible. If you want to chat for hours and explore together, I’m in. If you’d rather do your own thing and just offer/need a couch, that’s cool too.

I’m someone you can always speak to directly—no need to tiptoe around my feelings. My top priority is that you feel comfortable and happy, especially if you’re opening your home to me. I’m quiet, I keep my space tidy, and I won’t overstay my welcome. If something isn’t working out or your plans change, just say the word and I’ll happily switch to a hotel on short notice. I haven’t couchsurfed yet, so I’m trying to think ahead about anything that might worry a host. Whatever comes up, I'll handle it with clear communication and zero drama.
