Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To do what we do every night; try to take over the world!

ABOUT ME

Here's us:

Kriss and I started dating in March of '08 and we've been acting like an old married couple ever since. We like to argue with each other about the following topics: whether or not French authors are overrated, the origins of punk rock, and the proper way to raise children. We've both traveled a fair amount, and are looking to do a lot more in the future.

And now for little more in detail about the both of us.

Alex:
I was born in Manhattan, and grew up in a small suburb just outside of it. Needless to say, I came back as quickly as possible, and I'm living in Brooklyn now. I'm in my second year at Pace University. I had formerly been very interested in acting, however once I got into school I realized I was very passionate about cultural anthropology. I divide my spare time between punk shows, piano bars, and being a recluse watching classic movies on Netflix. My favorite music is a combination of classic punk, a little bit of indie music, standards singers like Judy Garland, and The World/Inferno Friendship Society which is a genre unto itself.

Kriss (as described by Alex):
Kriss is a badass dude with a badass goatee. He grew up in a number of places, namely Mexico, Peru, and several different neighborhoods across the five boroughs of New York (well, actually never in Staten Island...). He's a student at NYU, and though he's very interested in Middle Eastern politics, he also has a fondness for literature of any kind. He would probably list his favorite writers as Dostoevsky, Joyce, Borges, Gertrude Stein, and Milan Kundera. He's a lot more into the punk scene than I am, and has a pretty vast knowledge of bands in that respect. He's also into World/Inferno, which was how we met. Kriss' ideal evening would be skipping across a few state borders to go see one of his favorite bands, drinking the best wine on hand, spending time with a big crowd of his good friends, and coming home after the sun has already come up to fall asleep next to me.

PHILOSOPHY

Kriss:
If everything is in a state of flux, why not try and ride it?

Algo increíble que he hecho

Kriss:
My first time backpacking through Europe was in the summer of my Junior year in High School when I was 17. My friend backed out near the time for the flight so I went on my own with 1/3 of the provisions I thought I would have on hand.
I also work the annual Balkan festival hosted by Zlatne Ulste here in NYC and travel up and down the east coast regularly.
I also book bands here in NYC and try and organize tours for them along the cost. I've worked with the New York Howl since I was 15 and Nanuchka for the past few years.
I've been really involved in the NYC music scene in all of its levels since I was 14.

Alex:

I find pleasure in too many things to narrow it down to a list.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Kriss:
I can teach Spanish and English as well as lit in both languages. I read a lot in both and always want to learn twice as much as I know. I'm going to start Arabic in the fall and with any hope after a few will pick it up. I can talk for a while about books and Latin America. I'm also handy around the house.

Alex:
All the skills I have are pretty ridiculous. Unless you want to learn the lyrics to every Stephen Sondheim song, or how to dissect the theories of Max Weber, I'm not all that useful.
