ABOUT ME

I was born in Calgary, Alberta. Seven years ago, I moved to Vancouver, BC for school and haven't gotten around to leaving yet. These days I travel around a lot and am looking forward to exploring the continent, and meeting many people from a plethora of backgrounds.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe people should live with no regrets. We have all done less than desirable things in our lives, but what matters is how we move beyond these things. Regret is an inescapable emotion, but experiencing it and dwelling in it are two entirely different things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

These last couple of years, I have been mostly travelling around so it is hard to put people up, but when I'm back in my homebase Vancouver, I am more than willing to offer floor space, or backyard space for whoever I have come across in my travels. We have had a lot of unofficial couchsurfers staying at our house, because we enjoy lending a helping hand to those who need it!

As it is, I love surfing on other peoples' couches so that I can bring the joy of travelling with me, and watch how I can brighten their day, even as they brighten my own.

Interests

I read a lot. It's taken be a while to get back into it because school killed my love for it, but it is a burgeoning pleasure. I love to draw and do many creative things. Travel is a large area of interest for me, as I didn't get very much exposure when I was younger. I love to meet people and have a good time, whatever that entails.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love fantasy novels; Terry Brooks and Robin Hobb are personal favorites. I also thoroughly enjoy Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's series. Game of Thrones is a fun read. The Kite Runner was incredible.

As far as music goes, I'm into a little bit of everything. Right now I'm more into Electronic music like Orbital and Benni Benassi, but I also enjoy a good share of folk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, instrumentals, piano, and punk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This summer, my friends and I went to Halfway Hot Springs near Nakusp. We climbed down a mountain to find a waterfall, and some natural hot springs, and wound up completely awestruck by its majesty. We jumped into the waterfall, and soaked in the hot springs after. It was absolutely incredible to see such beauty and power encapsulated in one pocket of society. We were watching the sunset, when we realized that we had failed to bring a light source with us. In half the time it took us to climb down, we scrambled up the mountain, and made it to the top just as light was failing. I have never felt so alive, or at peace, as that night.
