Overview
About Me
Hello I'm Gabby. I come from New Zealand, a beautiful spot way down there at the bottom of the world. I have crazy hair and a wild imagination. I'm a bit of a dreamer. I value the simple things in life. I try to live a life rich with new experiences, adventures and full of inspiring people. I have a big heart, an open mind and a whimsical sense of humour. Considerate of other people and spaces, I'm easygoing and friendly.
I'm currently traveling in Portugal and Spain with my boyfriend Alex (a Tasmanian), after living in Bristol (UK) for 2 years - before we head homewards to the other side of the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love getting to see a place from a local perspective and connecting with people. I'm fascinated in hearing stories of people's lives, culture and travels.

Music, Movies, and Books
Listen:
A little bit of funk, a little bit of soul. I'm into wide range of music... from folk to Italian disco! I also have a bit of a soft spot for old time music that makes you feel good.
Watch:
Movies that leave you thinking or feeling inspired after you've watched them.
Amelie, Garden State, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Food Matters, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Darjeeling Limited, Napoleon Dynamite, What the Bleep do we know, The Fantastic Mr Fox, Howl's Moving Castle, The Labyrinth...
Read:
Enjoy the thought-provoking, reality escaping and informative.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Watching the sunrise from the mountains of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal.
- Staying with a local family in a small village in India and flying kites from roof tops.
- Sleeping in a yurt with donkeys as neighbours.
- Dancing wildly covered in glitter in the rain at WOMAD festival.
- Experiencing the shaking of an earthquake that shook my home city Christchurch to pieces, and having the chance to be a part of the incredible creativity, inspiration and togetherness that is rebuilding it piece by piece, better than before.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I know a couple of terribly bad jokes... !
Learn: I'd love to learn the basics in languages as I travel. Culture, recipes, experiences - always keen to share ideas, discuss life and learn from one another.
Share: Connecting with stories, plenty of laughs and good food :)
