About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying to cram as many adventures into this wonderful life that I can
ABOUT ME
I love to smile. I love traveling. I love to listen to and make music. And one of my favorite things to do is to play "Tour Guide" for people who are new to an area.
I'm sort of an all-around goofball. I consider that a good thing. :-)
After two springs teaching English to French kids at a camp called American Village, I spent a spring teaching English to Italian kids with a traveling theater group called Theatrino. These were all amazing experiences! Now I'm focusing on my artistic side - making film and theater and music in Chicago!
PHILOSOPHY
I live my life as a tourist, in the best sense of the word.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Went surfing through Pennsylvania in 2010, in France, Italy, Belgium, and the UK in 2011, and in Spain in 2012. In the summer of 2013 I surfed with my mom and cousin in both Italy and France. I have been to some great CS meetups in Boston, St. Louis, and London. I finally am a bit more settled now and have recently started hosting - it's been great so far!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In my opinion, CouchSurfing increases the awesomeness of any trip by 200%. I have been consistently amazed with how friendly, open-minded, and trusting everyone on CS is. Really incredible community!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: An endless list, since I was a film major in college and watch stuff all the time. I especially enjoy classic Hollywood films, and anything that really involves me emotionally.
Music: Lake Street Dive, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Belle & Sebastian, The Shins, Simon & Garfunkel, Of Montreal, Cake, Vampire Weekend, Cat Stevens, The Zombies, Stephen Sondheim, John Williams
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to read, but I recently started John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley. Written in very accessible prose, yet every sentence is dripping with insight and wisdom and simple poetry. Highly recommended!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A lot, but a few small samples:
Seeing Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Love in Las Vegas. I'd say it's worth the trip to Vegas alone just to see that. Incredible.
Floating in the warm waters of the gulf on the coast of Florida while watching silhouettes of dolphins against the sunset.
Hitchhiking with a guy who drove at 200km/hr while weaving in and out of traffic with no hands on the wheel. That was fun. ;-)
Oh, and taking a hike with my mom and three other couchsurfers in a park just an hour from where I grew up, soaking up the simple pleasures of bright sun, dynamic conversation, and glowing human souls.

Teach, Learn, Share
I have an extensive knowledge of amusement park history. I'm not kidding. Also, I know a pretty good amount about architecture and filmmaking (that's probably a bit more useful, but you never know ;-)
Oh and I can teach you how to do some basic beatboxing, and maybe some ukulele!
